The idea of this TV-serie popped into my mind recently. I remember watching this TV-serie some years ago, and I think I found it watchable at the present time. I was wondering if anyone remembers this? How did you feel about it?

i bought all of it as a boxed dvd set. watched it a few times in the last two years (or so ?) and have shared it with friends. it was an AMAZING show and the directors/actors commentary is great to listen to while watching it once you have watched them all.

I loved Freaks and Geeks, its our generation's My So-Called Life, all the characters were spot on, so true to life that even though it was set in the eighties I consider it timeless. The freaks, the geeks and even their parents were handled with up most sensitivity and dare I say groundbreaking honesty as well as being funny; Six Feet Under was fantastic but Freaks and Geeks made me laugh like nothing else, it was so welldone it almost physically hurts / stings when it was cancelled.

Everyone has their favourite moments, I'm no different: Neil dealing with is father infidelity; the garage clicker, Mory the "figure", deciding to tell his mother... was so real to me.

Sam, Neil and Bill conversations and daring Bill to drink just a whole mess of crap from the blended for money! Daniel and Kim's rocky relationship, Daniel trying to be a "punker" for the night. Mille and her poor dead dog. Nick's song tribute to Lindsay; "... as I'm riding on my horse through in the countryside I ask Lady L if I could give her a ride..."!

But my most favourite scene ever involved Lindsay entire drugged-up monologue of "what if this was a dream, and it's not even our dream.... it's that dog's dream!"

this is so wierd; i was just thinking about this show!

i think it's a fucking shame how quickly it got canned from US tv. it was one of the only worthwhile shows on tv at the time... blows the wonder years out of the toilet water from whence it came.

one day when im not broke im going to get that boxset.

i looooooove this show. i bought it randomly on dvd and watched 18 episodes in a row, more or less. i was so pissed that there wasn't a second season to buy:\

I caught a few episodes of this on IFC. Great show. So many actor/resses in it. I've been renting it off netflix now. Does not seem like it went on for that long. Too bad. Oh well, i'm only through episode 5. Well that and unfortunately quite a few episodes watched out of order on IFC. I'm surprised a channel bigger than IFC doesn't play re-runs, given it's an all-star cast in their youth--people would wanna see that.

I like how it feels edgy and cult-comedy-esque, but the show pleasantly pushes family values, understanding, and mainstream morals all episode long, every episode. I do not have a lot of room in my life for TV shows that are not feel-good, so that works for me.

good stuff.

I was thinking about bumping this thread. I used to watch this when it was new and I was in the age group of the younger kids on the show. I forgot about all the people that were on this show, I just started watching it again and was amazed at all of the familiar faces. I've also been watching it recently on IFC

Me too, lolollz. Yes Freaks and Geeks was an AWESOME show!! =D I think I was remembering flash backs of it from when it first came out when i started watching it last year on G4. All the actors they picked were perfect, and yes the characters were basically spot on. Very "real" compared to almost any other show I've ever seen. Most don't even show the "freaks" as side-characters or people in the background of a high school....when they were obviously ALWAYS there; whether it was the 80's or the 2000's. Groundbreaking is a good word that I just saw used to describe this show, and groundbreaking it was. So considering this show had NO downsides that I can spot (it was even an hour longggg!), and considering it was a PERFECT show for the 90's, WHICH RETARDS decided to cancel the one good show that came out during this..(or maybe almost any) time?!? I'm gonna watch some on Youtube right now. Cuzzz I don't get G4 anymore, AND I don't even think they play it anymore. Phhh. They should have at least made a second season, or even HALF of it for christ's sake!

Pffff... Life on Mars was this ALLLL over again :X

well i just finished the series. face is still wet from crying.
The ending comes out of no where and hit me pretty hard. it breaks so hard and so suddenly from the more conventional tone the show is usually in. I think it was a good ending though--just kinda leaves you there by yourself all the sudden. She is starting to see the potential greatness of life, but not yet how hard that potential is to realize. that Grateful Dead culture she has started to become enamored with and join is so optimistic, but is a great example of how that optimism does not always pan out. there is so much potential in life, but from what i see it is mostly wasted. people either don't shoot big or fall hard when they do. she is going to be in an environment where there is so much room for big things to happen, be they bad or good. it's a beautiful scenario, a young girl with great intentions taking control and first beginning this more adult exploration of life. the freedom of youth mixing with the freedom of growing up. but you don't see what happens with her, and it sure made me feel sad. reminded me of how great i thought things could be. the strange energy associated with this teenage exploration, which i will never have again.

edit: typing this out, I realize how similar the show's end is to the end of Catcher in the Rye. Or how i remember the end of Catcher since i read it 8 years ago. I dont really remember what i think of that book, just that the end is holden having this same sad feeling when he thinks of his sister or whoever that little girl is reaching for the ring on the merry-go-round.

good show. too bad there isn't more.

One of the reasons it is so good is because it left you wanting more. Therefore prefect ending with some story lines not really tied up and left open ended.

Undeclared is creator Judd Apatow's next show focusing on dorm life at an average college in the United States. Seth Rogan starring and lots of cameos from some of the other same actors.

Apatow also is involved with Forgetting Sarah Marshal, 40 Year Old Virgin, Pineapple Express etc.

Undeclared^^^That's the show I was thinking of. I couldn't remember what it was called.

Freaks and geeks is an amazing show. Its so awkward and funny sometimes.

I think I'm the only one who doesn't like it. I think it's slow and boring. The dialogue, although not cheesy, is not very exciting. I remember HS being a lot more exciting than this show.
