TV - CSI & CSI Miami (& now CSI New York)

Hi I was just wondering what everyone here thought of these 2 shows?

I'm a big fan of both. Here in Australia we have had season 1 & 2 of CSI & Season 1 of Miami. I recently purchased Season 1 of CSI on DVD as I had only seen a few episodes (mainly caught season 2). After watching the first 2 episodes it was easy to notice how far the cast & crew have come since they started, how their performances are tighter & more convincing & production qualities have improved out of sight!

A lot of people bag it because a real CSI doesn't happen like that, it's all B/S etc.... I know that, but I find the show entertaining none the less, I also enjoy picking plot holes, pointing out things that would have been done differently / better & I also LOVE watching the cadavars BLINK!! - it's half the fun I reckon!

IMO in Season 2 of CSI some of the dialogue became a bit cliche, sometimes you kind of knew what Gil was going to say, or how he was going to react (maybe it was me understanding his character better?). I haven't noticed this with Miami yet though, but it has only been 1 season.

My personal preference is Miami, even after 1 season. Slightly O/T - I'm not into Without a Trace (one of the other Bruckheimer productions which is shown right after Miami here in Aus.)

Does anyone have a favourite character from either? favourite episode? or am I alone here in being a big CSI fan? (my GF can't stand it!)

No way Daimo...I love CSI (the original one)...not much of a fan of CSI Miami.

But to be honest, I lost interest at the end of the 1st season, especially when Channel Nine was plugging both CSI's every single over during the cricket!

Favourite Character - Could never go past Grissom with this one sorry :)
 
I used to really enjoy this, but like Law and Order I kind of got over-saturated in advertising and well...versions of the show.

Always a good watch though providing you dont miss 5 minutes of it.

Best episode I thought was the CSI Miami one where there was someone with a bomb tied around his neck. Dodgy ending, but I like David Caruso as that character... convincing.

The main guy in normal CSI is a bit too smarmy for my likes.
 
CSI was really good when it first started then it sucked for a while and now it is really good again

I never liked CSI Miami
 
I've seen a few episodes, and I enjoyed them.

With all the neat science stuff, it's like watching the Discovery channel, except with more atrtractive and more well-spoken hosts.
 
I find it interesting that you all say you like original better than Miami.... what are the main reasons? you like Grissams character better than David Caruso? I honestly felt that Miami was really tight from the beginning, whereas original took a season to work in and really gel together as a team. I also think Miami had some better stories to work with, esp the robbery & jail break episodes & seeing one of the characters "coking" on a lie detector test was rather amusing to say the least!
 
I do enjoy this show, but do not watch it too frequently since I have a hard time watching TV at night with uni work. After watching CSI: Miami last night and thinking about both versions, I have one major complaint. Often times the editing is way over done. The number of times the camera was flipping around and zooming in and out started to make me dizzy/nauseous. Perhaps this is a trick that they use to make some of the scientific scenes more intense, but I feel that it detracts a bit from the show. Actually a second complaint, too - all the characters are way too damn good looking. One thing that I prefer about Law & Order over the CSIs is that at least their cops & lawyers look like average people. All of the characters on both shows are a touch too Hollywood-esque for my taste. These are constructive critiques, not bashing by the way! I do like the shows :)
 
I just heard that CSI: New York - is on it's way... not sure when....

It's gonna end up like Star Trek.... can we really handle 3 versions of the same show?

How about - CSI - Antarctica ? CSI - International Space Station (Or for Australians - CSI Redfern)

Anyone else got any good suggestions for where another CSI show could be based? ;)
 
I'm surpsised they haven't made CSI: Boston, they set tons of shows here

Fucking hell... then there is that CSI show where they are in the navy or some BS...

and about 4 versionf of Law and Order.


I preferred the days when there was the one show. And it was good.... not pimped out and copied like some kind of pimped and copied hussy goblin.

How many people out there are fed up with CSI and its rip off shows clogging up TV time, it is almost as bad as when the reality show craze first hit :X

Like seriously if CSI was at least based on what really happens in the crime fighting world, sure the same guy that does the autopsy also hunts down the criminal and makes the arrest, right. 8)

Oh well its not like ive actually watched a full episode of it(I dont think I could torture myself enough), but seriously the TV networks have to stop ripping off each other and actually come up with some original ideas for a change, or at least not have 3 of the same fuckin show!!!!!

I can't stand that prick Caruso in the Miami one. I hate the way he speaks.

I liked the show a lot when it first came on, but it isn't enjoyable anymore, really. And I hate how they have so many of them, it is just lame. Law and order did the same thing, they had a few spin offs.

They are good for when you are REALLY bored and just need some mindless entertainment, but I don't make a point to watch them ever. But then again, I don't really make a point to watch any tv.....cept housewives and lost :) now that is good tv :)
 
man i love csi miami and csi vegas isnt bad but i think they are goin a lil far with all the crime lab shows like ncis and csi ny. i personally think they suck ass.
 
Giving this one a big ole' bump for the CSI season finale tonight. What did everyone think? I thought Tarantino did an awesome job. Big thumbs up.
 
Yeah I really liked that one....the ants...well the ants just freaked me out. You could definitely see the Tarantino influence with the dreamlike sequence about him having died of the ant bites and them cutting him open, etc.
