dvd: Cops

Im a huge fan on the Fox TV series "Cops". But i never get to watch it anymore as i dont have cable and when it shows on broadcast im always at work. But like i was at Target (its a US retail store for those who dont know) and i saw they have 3 new DVD's of Cops. Each one caters to different types of incidents. I fucking loved watching them all. Cops is my fav show ever. Its just something about seeing real people getting in trouble with the law that totally intrigues me. Anybody else like Cops here?
 
Yeah, my favourite reality tv show. Very interesting job (from what you get shown). I'm thinking about becoming a cop one day maybe.
 
ever notice that COPs generally focus on catching black crack addicts?

not saying it's a generalisation, but, in almost every episode they are chasing a crackhead with no shirt.
 
A couple of months ago i saw this situation:
cop pulls over a 20 something white chick for failing to indicate.. she says she doesnt have her rego and the cop asks her a set of questions .. ie. why are you here. She says that she was dropping off her friend (a stupid story - as she was returning from her stated destination).. the cop doesnt believe it and doesnt seem to like the look of the girls boyfriend either. He asks the girl to get out of the car and speak to her (edit: changed him to her - vital error) alone.

They go around the back of the car and the cop says.. "I know that your boyfriend got you to drive him down here to buy drugs. Whats he buying? Crack? Weed?" The girl dumbly says 'weed' and then she begins to get a bit emotional .. the cop starts comforting (hitting on) her. He then goes around to the passenger seat and says to the guy; "I know you are coming down here to buy weed, your girlfriend told me the whole story."

The boyfriend denies everything (and rightfully so), eventually he admits that he came to buy a $50 of weed but couldn't get any and they were returning home empty-handed. The policeman then arrests him for 'being in a high-drug area' (whatever that bullshit charge is) and says he'll be spending the night locked up. The pretty girl is sent home and told not to return to *dangerous area*. The cop then gives his spiel about working hard on the beat making sure these rich white kids don't get hurt.

The next two arrests in the episode were obviously shirtless, black, crackheads living in rent support apartments ;)

haha, i've got a similiar story about racial prejudice...

The other week me (aussie), and my mate (lebo) were at Redfern station. I didn't realise i was under cover and sparked up a ciggy, and an aussie secca comes up to me, just gives me a warning not to do it again, usually they'll just give you a $500 ticket on the spot no excuses (these guys have quotas to be filled).

Then we get on our train to Liverpool station, my mate didn't buy a ticket, and a bunch of seccas are waiting for him when he tries to go through, he's in the middle of being written up a ticket, when one of the Lebanese seccas starts talking to him in arabic, asking if he's lebo, he then tells my mate to pissoff through and rips up the ticket after he finds out he's the same nationality..

actually, having been a longtime watcher, i would say they generally focus on redneck white guys who beat their wives and hassling suburban white kids who come to the ghetto to buy drugs.
 
cops is one of my guilty pleasures. it's usually on tv while i'm going to sleep, and i end up staying up later to watch it.
 
i have learned one thing from that show, never wear a white undershirt/tanktop (called wifebeaters around here) in public. thats the easiest way to go downtown in a squad car.
