Has anyone else watched this show, yet? I've gotten to see two episodes so far and am definitely intrigued. It has the potential to be a really great Twin Peaks-esque show provided they don't fuck it up somewhere down the line. The characters are quite interesting--especially the minister--and I think it's very cool that they chose such an ugly setting and time period for the show (the 1930s in the Dust Bowl).

If you haven't caught it yet, and have HBO, I recommend giving it a shot. New episodes aire Sunday evenings.

I've only seen the second episode and i'm really interested. I like how every character seems to have a story behind them. I don't like the minister, he seems too evil.

I've been watching it and am hooked as well. I love the armaggedon-esque battle going on between the minister and the carnavale folk (even if it hasn't really started yet). The fact that you have to figure it all out as you go along keeps my interest.

Everyone should try to catch this.

I agree...the minister seems very evil.

carnivale

Good viewing meterial for stoned minds. Although I missed the first episode, I enjoyed the 2nd and third quite a bit. There aint shit else on SUnday nights anyways (except football). I believe HBO reruns the previous sunday night episode late the following Saturday if ya missed it.
enjoy

I missed last nights but luckily i have about 8 HBOs so it will be played 10 more times during the week.

God damn it! I AM SOOOOOOO JEALOUS OF EVERYONE WHO HAS HBO!~
We got rid of our premium channels awhile ago when we got a DVD player and started renting a couple of movies a week.
But dammit...they are showing the commericals for this show all the time now and it looks so interesting. But damn. I am out of luck. I'll have to wait until the first season comes out on DVD I guess. Blah!

I'm hooked on this show! I haven't missed an episode, and last night's has definitely left me with a lot more questions. The attention to detail and acting in this show is superb. I put it up there with Six Feet Under as far as HBO shows go. Thank god for HBO!

Yeah it is a very creepy show but interesting! You cant beat midgets, fat strippers, psychic's and healer's! That is A LOT of entertainment for one show!

I don't have HBO anymore, so I haven't been able to watch. :(

I suppose I'll just wait for the DVD to come out. It's definitely the best new show I've seen in years...up there with the likes of Twin Peaks and the Sopranos.

has anyone read geek love by katharine dunn? carnivale reminds me of twin peaks mixed with geek love mixed with, uhm, something from the 30s :)

the twin peaks aspect isn't just because of the lynchian tone either.. the same actor who plays the midget carnival leader was the backwards talking lounge-jazz groovin' apparition in agent cooper's dreams on tp.

and yes, its up there with six feet under as a fave..

I missed this Sundays episode (probably catch it later with one of the other HBO channels). But the last episode where they are all ghosts in the town... *shivers* That last image of the naked girl standing in the window and seeing a dark image walk up behind her and drag her into the shaddows really creeped me out.

This show is just getting better and better. :)

watched half an episode of this and i definitely want to watch more!! unfortunately, i too have no hbo! :(

Anyone watch the season opener?

It wasn't the best but it was setting up for next week's episode which looks like it will be great.

I still never finished season one. I'm going to have to rent/buy/download it and then get HBO or something.

This show has the same creepiness to it that I loved about Twin Peaks.

I tried. I really did. I must've sat through nearly 6 epsiodes. Each time, I thought maybe something would happen, and then really wouldn't. It is creepy, and visualy very interesting, and the plot is even kinda cool. It just seems to lack any follow through for me.

I'll give it another shot, since it made it 2 seasons.

Personaly, I prefered Deadwood for my pre-modern vulgar drama. ;)

The first season is out on DVD now. Although I think it's around $80. All of you that don't have HBO might check to see if your local video stores have it to rent.

i saw the entire first season and enjoyed it quite a bit. the fact that its happening durring the dust bowl adds a whole other creepiness to it that i really like.
they left the series really open ended. i havnt heard anything about there being a second season. does anyone know of theyre continuing the series?
