I drank a whole bottle of tussionex one night. Started off with just a few sips.. was feeling drowsy, right as I was going to bed I felt sedated which in turn didn't allow me to fall asleep. I then kept taking big gulps of the cough medicine and by 6 am, the time my girlfriend wakes up for work I was wide awake and began walking home. It wa -11 and the walk woke me up but as soon as I got into my girlfriends van I started to feel very sick... my eyes didn't want to stay open and it felt like I was going to throw up. I got home... puked, and went to bed. Woke up to go to school still feeling sick, got home from school, went back to bed... my girlfrend picked me up at around 7pm.. went back to her house - went right back to bed, woke up at 6 am, she drove me back home - went back to bed till about 1:30pm and wrote an exam.. after writing the exam, went to my girlfriends parents house.. went shopping for a litte bit and came back to my girlfriends house and slept all night. That was a whole lotta sleeping....... but even still, till this day I feel weird and my stomach hurts from time to time..... how severe can damages be from doing this one time? and how long will I feel weird for?
 
Without knowing the exact doses, I can't answer with precision but I doubt there was any damage.

I would strongly suggest editing and taking out about 75% of this post because your exact agenda over the course of 48 hours really isn't necessary to answering your question and will likely just deter people from contributing.

Assuming the fairly standard dispensed amount of 4oz (120mL) if you drank the entire bottle, you consumed 192mg of chlorpheniramine maleate when the maximum dose is 24mg over 24 hours. (Tussionex contains 10mg of hydrocodone and 8mg of chlorpheniramine maleate per 5mL teaspoon.)

This stuff is really dangerous when taken in large doses and has been involved in several deaths where people took DXM products that also contained chlorpheniramine maleate. I'm glad you seem to be alright, but do take more caution in the future when taking chlorpheniramine products.

You will be fine. Just be very happy you did mix anything that releases serotonin into the mix, or you would have been fucked, I mean FUCKED.

But that is not a lethal dose of chlorpheniramine. You would have to take at least 35 times the max daily amount in order to be fatal. This number decreases dramatically with serotonin releasing drugs, you did not consume.


I say you overdosed on hydrocodone... This is where all the nausea stimuli came from. Then you were sick all the next day, is because Hydrocodone was still being released in your system.

I know it wasn't a fatal dose but that stuff can get you sick in doses just above the daily max and that was a large dose. But I agree hydrocodone could also be the culprit because you drank a pretty large amount of that for someone with a mild to moderate tolerance. Both could have made you sick. It is odd though that you were sick for that long. I've never felt the side effects of opiates last any longer than just 24 hours.

Your other question, you did no damage.

Remember, it is an extended release suspension, like Delsym, the exact same mechanism, different drug.

If he drank enough to feel good in the first place, This will put any non -tolerant person into overdose in the next 2-4 hours. Then, it holds up the level in his blood stream for 6 more hours, then it wears of in the next 2 hours.

Coming to a grand total of 12 hours of sickness... I really feel sorry for this man.

The chlorpheniramine is not in lethal dose, it is in the range of acting like nice fat dose of diphenhydramine in terms of sedation.

None-the-less, he still overdosed on this medication...
 
I got sick from too much tussionex.. It was not the hydrocodone.. Now it works great for a cough, and that's what I use it for. Some people drink a whole bottle and are fine.. some aren't. Don't do it again. Lesson learned.
 
You have tolerance. He got drowsy off a few sips, that's about an ounce, which is too much for non-tolerant individuals over a period of time, due to the extended release.
 
Yeah I put down one shot (approx 1.25 oz), and even with a mild tolerance, it still gets me good. I like it much much better than codeine/promethazine syrup. I don't know why Houston rappers like that shitty/overpriced syrup so much...

Me either amd it's so weak...

They need to get some roxicodone syrup out here.
