Tussionex potency

My first question is: How long will a bottle of Tussionex, a suspended Hydrocodone syrup, stay potent? Assuming it is stored in a dry, closet with its cap tightly sealed. I just found a bottle from one year ago, with barely two teaspoons gone.
Also, I checked on RxList for the ingredients, and it said it was 10 mg of hydrocodone and 8 mg of chlorpheniramine maleate in each 5 mL of the suspension. My second question is how much should I drink, and will the maleate harm me in such doses?
 
I would think it would still be good. I killed a bottle that was 8 months old and it felt as strong as before. It was a nice little surprise found in my med closet that I had forgotten! Careful drinking too much as the syrup may be hard on your stomach!

That is really one of my favorite forms of hydrocodone! Yeah, it will still be alright!
Start off with 20ml(Four Tablespoons) it should be marked on the side of the bottle though. This will give you a mild buzz.
Then another 20ml when you start to feel the first!
you'll feel good for awile
Then another 20ml in a couple of hours!
(if you want to be nodding - up this one to 30-40ml)
You should be about half way through the bottle by now! (you have two options - although 80ml should deffinatly, be enough for one night - put the stuff away and save it for tommarrow - or continue on the cycle I mentioned above!
Just taking 10ml and 20ml doses every coouple hours.
The reason I mention stopping at 80ml is you going to want more tommarrow.

When I drank about 10 mLs, I got extremely tired but felt pretty good. Are those the normal effects from opiates? I was under the impression that extreme drowsiness was not a usual side effect...
 
As I must respond to soooo many threads - the dope ain't gunna go bad before you have a chance to consume it .. now with Tussionex you may find the syrup doesn't hold up as well - a bottle thats a few years old might not have that incredible taste it originally had (it really does taste good) .. but the hydrocodone is still kickin, good as new!
When we would dumpster dive at pharmacies, Tussionex was our favorite find.. the stuff just clings to the walls of the bottles, so you only needed to find a few, rinse them out with OJ, and you were set.. often pharmacys would just toss out bottles that had small amounts (they are SUPPOSED to transfer these small amounts into another bottle, but we would find bottles with 50mL-200mL still in them) .. ahh the joys of playing in the pharmacies dumpster on a cool summers eve...

The suggested dose to really knock yourself out on is 30mg+, so you'll probably get blitzkrieged from the 40mg,depending on your tolerance. Myself, I've taken 60mg of hydrocodone without having much of an opiate tolerance and survived, so I wouldn't worry too much. ;)

I really hope you didn't take 4 TABLEspoons! The syrup is 10mg of hydrocodone/5mL. 5mL is equal to one TEAspoon. one table spoon is 3 times that or 15mL. So if you really did this, you took 120mgs and that is not safe! I really do miss having this shit around though.

How long ago was it that you did this? Was this a common thing to do for all pharamacies? I have never even thought of raiding their dumpster for goodies... but on the other hand, how often would they be finishing off their litre(or however big they get em) bottle of syrup?

They are not supposed to - with controlled substances you're supposed to rinse the bottle out first then throw it away - but that doesn't happen.. when they are filling a script and run out with one bottle, they toss it and grab another - well, once it all settles there can be anywher from none to a LOT of syrup - there are also a large number of syrups that contain hydrocodone, so a full dumpster usually has a few decent bottles - when rinsed, you can have a decent amount (when you get syrups that have 10mg/ml and whatnot) ..

I just found an old bottle that I had prescribed to me over a year ago. Now that I know it's here I'll keep it squirreled away for the next time I'm broke and out of dope.
