Hi Folks

Nice to (virtually) meet you all. I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to.

I have been prescribed Tussionex, which is a cough suppresent comprised of hydrocodone and chlorpheniramine. Chlorpheniramine supposedly has SNRI and SSRI properties. It is categorized as an anti-histamine.

I have taken about 10 ml of Tusssionex per 24 hours (which amounts to 20 mg hydro and 16 mg chlor.) for about five days.

I was planning on rolling this Saturday with tested pure mdma crystals. However, I just discovered these SNRI/ SSRI properties of the chlorpheniramine so now I am concerned. I found a thread that toted chlorephniramine as useful after a roll, and common sense tells me that it might hinder my roll...but I want to see if you all have any input. Do you think it will limit my roll if I quit now (wednesday night)? What about if I don't quit until 24 hours before?

I have a wicked cough and yes, I know rolling definitely won't help that ;)

I really appreciate it!

Reading the leaflet supplied with Tussionex I would say you would be OK take your last dose as early as possible the day before. One of the side effects mentioned is that it may make you feel dizzy or sleepy, if your still feeling dizzy/sick or sleepy etc then I wouldnt roll.

Thanks, Bearlove. So you don't think the SNRI aspect of chlopheniramine will affect the mdma if ceased 24 hours before?

The literature I've found on this antihistamine doesn't clarfity whether this is a strong or weak SNRI/SSRI.

The information on it is fairly patchy tbh - I was looking at the half life of the drug 12/27 hours then thinking you have 36hours without a dose so your going to have trace amounts left.

chlorpheniramine - was used in conjunction with MDMA and found to offer neuroprotection

Theres another thread on hear where they discuss it.

If your in doubt though just dont do it - mind you its Halloween - so stop taking your meds earlier :)

Yeah, you are right. If I am still in doubt at that point I won't roll.

The article about neuroprotection and chlorpheniramine is interesting, though. If anything it looks like I will be able to use it after rolling at some point.

I just wish there was more information out there about possible accumulated SSRI effects from chlorpheniramine.
