Tussin with 10 mg DXM, but 100 mg guaifenesin? Is it any good?

I have a bottle of generic tussin DM that has 10 mg DXM and 100 mg guaifenesin. How much guaifenesin is too much. I would like to have no ill effects, but I can handle minor nausea. Body 5" 4', 110 lbs. young adult.

Get something with DXM as the only active ingredient. The amount of guaifenesin you would be consuming in order to get effects from the DXM would be way too much. DXM is gross enough on its own, don't add massively excessive amounts of other disgusting and harmful chemicals the mix.

High doses of Guaifenesin can cause severe nausea and vomiting.
Because of its mucus-thinning properties, which can affect the mucus plug of the cervix, guaifenesin may contribute to an increase in the likelihood that a woman will conceive.

According to erowid, a common dose of dxm is 200-400mg. With your Tussin that means 2 grams (!) of guaifenesin with 200mg dxm.

Usual Adult Dose of Guaifenesin for Cough:

Immediate release formulation: 200 to 400 mg orally every 4 hours as needed, not to exceed 2.4 g/day

It's easy to see you would certainly feel nauseaus and vomit for sure.
