tussin cough and chest congestion

Can I drink 1 4oz bottle of tussin cough and chest congestion without having much trouble from the guifesten?
 
It always made me sick when I used those preparations in my teens.

So I've never used them since, figure why risk the extra discomfort when the DXM only syrups and gells dont effect me like that.
 
yeah just get the "max formula" of whatever local generic brand they have there. ie CVS Pharmacy Tussin DM Max formula

they always have the most mg dxm/ml (20 I believe over here) and have no other ingredients. Win-win.
 
This is all they had in the few little store we have in this small town. The rite aid was out of plain cough and had no just DXM pills and the other two stores didn't carry plain cough syrup. This was the best out of my options. I've heard that guifesten can make ya nauseated and puke but I assumed the pukeing and heavy nausea was from more than a 4oz bottle since it seems everyone takes 8 oz or more from what I've read. I have a pretty strong stomach and haven't puked in probably ten years so as long as its not gonna land me in the hospital or have me bed ridden for the rest of the day I should be cool for a one time deal wouldn't you think?
 
Is it really that difficult for the average researcher to acquire pure DXM? DXM has a bit of a rough bodyload itself to be bothering with burdening the kidneys with the epic amounts of glucose found in syrups.

How much guaifenesin is present, out of curiosity?

And do you have any prior experience with DXM?
 
100mg per tsp. I have limited exp with dxm. Only been doing it for a month now, but everyday for that month in combination with 2400mgs of neurontin. I've only gone to the 2nd platue and don't plan to go higher, I'm happy where I'm at with it.
 
Damn! That's a LOT of guaifenesin. Mucinex capsules are 600mg and say to take one to two at once and not exceeding 4 a day...

It's just common sense not to drink it. Do you still have your receipt?
 
Melange... is that a Dune reference?

I used Mucinex w/guaifenesin and DXM for a long time, but it was hard on me. It's very dehydrating at high doses (your teeth will notice), and it's especially dangerous in hot weather. Wonder if there's a way to separate the chemicals.
 
LOL, the name melange brought the same idea to my mind, I loved Frank Herbert's Dune when I was in my teens. :)

I've sometimes taken codeine cough syrups that contain guaifenesin, drinking a bottle at a time, and it didn't usually make me puke.
 
Just as a matter of interest why do people drink the syrups/capsules as oppose to the pure powder? Is the syrup/caps a better trip?

Its been puzzling me as the pure powder seems to be very widely available and pretty reasonably priced but many seem to prefer cough syrups.

Ive done the powder lots and syrup once and drinking it was truly foul!

So....why do you all prefer the syrup?
