It has been a long 3 years , dx breast cancer 8/2008. Had chemo many surgeries. Major reconstruction done 2/2010. Took Norco for 6 months, had been on vicodin during chemo, Aldo had it post op. To get off narc they gave me tramadol. It has now been long enough and I'm ready to get my life back. I gave read that some take vicodin to get off tramadol. I take 100 mg 3x day. If I taper 1/2 pill a week that makes it almost Nov and we are supposed to go on vacation at Christmas. Is it better tp find thecmost aggressive taper schedule or CT? Or I read somewhere that dome use vicodin to get off tramadol. I have learned recently that tramadil gas affects on serotonin, yeah, have problem with depression. Please help, have 3 kids, husband with anxiety issues and I would like to go back to normal life!

A slow taper would be best due to the Tram's anti-depressant (SNRI) properties... treat it like titrating off Wellbutrin and norcos at the same time...

I agree with Sekio. Tramadol is an opioid and SNRI so you are going to be dealing with an opiatish type withdrawal coupled with serotonin/noradrenaline down regulation.

Go easy on yourself. Youve got 3 kids/husband to look after and said you have challenges with depression. CTwould be torturous for both you and your family in my opinion.

You said you wanted to ' get your life back' -as you cut down unpleasant effects including the feelling of being dependent (if thats what you mean) are going to dissipate.

If you cut down 50mg every two weeks or so its unlikely that you are going to feel uncomfortable.

By the time you go on your holiday youll be off or down to a barely noticeable dose.

People come off drugs like Tramadol all the time. Dont be afraid of it sweetheart You
conquered the big C you can overcome this too!

You'll do it.

Peace n Love ( let me know how it goes!)
