Opioids Trying to (safely) catch a buzz from buprenorphine...

To preface: I love Oxy. It's my DoC and I've been taking it on and off for over 2 years. I have a lot of willpower and self discipline when it comes to this stuff and I've managed to keep my tolerance low. Most recently, I've been doing about 35-45mg of Oxy a day, but usually in one dosing session.

Anyway, my source dried up for the time being and as compensation he's given me a couple 8mg Subs. Breaking them up, I've managed to completely come off Oxy without any real W/D (I stopped any Oxy a week ago now) and the past two days I've taken nothing.

I feel fine except for a tiny bit of nausea and a pinch of dysphoria/depression.

Not even once have I caught any kind of a good buzz from the subs. Really all they've done is block any W/D I would have felt which is wonderful and I respect that, but for now these Subs are all I have and I'm wondering how to approach them for a recreational experience.

Some swear by them and their recreational values, others say they're best used for W/D and not to bother with any other use.

The one time I tried ~1mg my stomach was somewhat off and I felt sluggish and slightly dysphoric (like I took too much Klonopin). To ween me off my low Oxy habit, I was doing like .25mg-.5mg 2x daily until two days ago, always sublingually.

About two hours ago, I snorted about .5mg again to see if that would change the experience. So far, I really haven't felt anything. Is it even worth it to try another .5mg?

Would snorting Subs be better for recreational value than sublingually? I'm really inexperienced with this stuff, but it's all I have for now and I'm looking for advice/experiences.

Also, can you really OD on Suboxone? I've read Buprenorphine was engineered to be safer with its ceiling and blockade effects, and respiratory depression has a cap. To bolster that anecdotally, a friend of mine with no Opiate tolerance (was only an occasional user) was given an 8mg Sub without being told how strong it was and took the whole thing. He was sick as hell for about 20 hours, but didn't have to make a trip to the hospital or anything. To me, with no tolerance that seems like it would have been a massive OD, like if you have no Oxy tolerance and do 80mg.

Mods if this is better in BDD or inappropriate in any way please do what you have to.

Thanks guys.

i'm not sure of the comparative strength of oxy to bupe, but if your like me when i was on H i'd have to do like 16mg suboxone just to feel anything. i think insufilation is stronger than transmucaly (subligual) i'd watch out though if your gonna go through a dry spell, cause it will hit you HARD your proberly better off streching them out till you get your oxys back. sorry if this makes no sense i'm out of my nut right now.

what form is you bupe in, i'm guessing subutex or suboxone. if it's subutex and your down with it you could get a 5cc an IV like 20mg but start small an make sure you can take it.

if i'm not supossed to say this then delete this post

I got a great buzz off of about .5-ish mg by IVing a sub strip and smoking a bowl last night. It was day 4 of detox from daily H used (Iv). I find I only need about 1mg to half 1 twice daily if I IV it. In my experiences subutex was way easier to get high from. It preps cleaner for IV and naloxone gives me headaches sometimes.

But weed or benzos definitely get me feeling good with subs.

IMO snort around 1mg... Do a little more if necessary. It is much harder to use bupe recreationally through the sublingual route IMO/ ITOOM

You can overdose on bupe but it is difficult with a tolerance. Still, don't be crazy with the dosing. Just getting sick from bupe isn't fun. If someone were to overdose with bupe, it has an extremely high affinity for the receptors and thus is difficult to reverse.

Overdosing/having fun on bupe is hard/impossible for people with a tolerance.

Most people seem to think that insufflation produces quicker onset and is therefore more recreational than sublingual use.

Man I tried to safely get a "buzz" from subs and failed. I take 40mg's of hydrocodone a day and took 1.5mg's of suboxone and felt good for around 2 hours and then was sick for an entire day. Then when I tried to take a smaller amount the following day and got even sicker.

I think saying "if you have a tolerance" or "if you use oxy" that you will not catch a buzz is misinformation. I think it all depends on the person.

I was up to a tolerance of 20mg of oxymorphone snorted and thats when i stopped for a while and started taking subs. I took .5 to 1mg sublingually and almost everytime i got a nice moodlift and an energy boost. Your not going to be all warm and fuzzy and euphoric like other opiates but i say depending on the person you can def catch a buzz.

No matter what I do I cannot get any kind of buzz from my bupe... I have been on it for a little over 2 months now, coming off of a ~35mg IV oxymorphone habit... I lowered to this after about 60mg insufflated in addition to the IV.

I started injecting the strips, with micron filters of course. Switched to subutex now just insufflate 4-6mg daily because I hate the taste (I am all for my sobriety from opiates now so I don't try to get high I just take it). No matter how much I injected with benadryl I couldn't get high... oh and the damn sub strips stopped up and hardened my veins!!! I was using micron filters and this happened... I lost my HUGE bulging veins in the crook of my left arm... did this happen to anyone else? I DO NOT SUGGEST INJECTING THE STRIPS, EVEN WITH MICRON FILTERS!!

TBH that's what usually happens when someone takes too much bupe. Did you feel really sick specifically in your stomach?

The answer to your question is < 2mg subutex snorted or plugged. That should do the trick.

Tell your Dr. that suboxone gives you headaches and makes you nauseous. If he's cool, he'll switch you to subutex.

This

I came off a 10-15 bag/day H habit and 8mgs made me feel niiice, and I was taking it for 6 months...it definitely depends on the person...don't think it's gonna feel like you took a bunch of oxy tho

^ like 'highhooked' says, you won't get euphoric but will feel probably noticeably better and experience a moodlift.

Remembering this, is it really even worth it?

What?

20mg is entirely too large of a dose!

It would be wise never to IV more than 0.5 mg at once.

Micron filtering (see last link in my signature) is essential to make it safe.

Finally, Suboxone and Subutex have identical effects. The naloxone in Suboxone doesn't deter against IV usage.

Yeah, IV'ing 20mg will give you about twice as much bupe as your body can even metabolise.

I can relate to your feelings. I am 16 days off bupe and think that I am going to use some valium today. I just cannot bear today.

But given that you're only 2 days off bupe (or 4 days, was it?) and that bupe has such a long half-life, you may be literally setting yourself back at square one; because it hasn't fully left your body yet.

Thanks for all the advice guys.

I ended up snorting a line of roughly 1mg the next day. It didn't give me a rush of euphoria whatsoever, but it kind of gave me a nice, pleasant, mellow "state of content."

To me, it's such a weird drug. You can tell it's very strong, yet its effects are very subtle unless you do too much. I do like it though, it's definitely better than nothing. It's just kind of difficult to adjust to, if that makes any sense.

the best "recreational" experience with bupe goes like this:

wait til youre sick. snort like 1-2mg. ten mins later sweet sweet relief.

sick to well is, to me, way more euphoric. kind of like taking a benzo when you really need it omgyes.
