I have been on Suboxone for 7 + years and have come down from 8mg to 2mg, but can not seem to get any lower- depression and aches and pain set in.
I am in a much better place then I was when i sytarted suboxone and have a "normal life" Job, wife, and home- which I did not have before.

I dont want to loose my new life coming off the suboxone- but I know life is much better without it

I have been reading up on Ibogaine and am looking for anyone who has successfully come off Suboxone using Ibogaine, or anyone who can direct me to someone in the know.

Any recommendations are appreciated

Thanks,

I heard you have to be off of bupe for 2 weeks before doing ibogaine treatment. I read someone say that the clinic offered to do 1 week off and 1 week on oral morphine but it cost a shitload more. It's because of the crazy long halflife I beleive. Ibogaine is directed more at if you are addicted toa short acting full agoniest i.e. heroin oxy.

I could be wrong though

You should just taper your dose down until you hit just tiny little crumbs.. youve been on 7 years so you wanna do this somewhat slow so you are not in pain otherwise you incerease chance of relapse. You can decrease a little like every week and in like 2 months or 3 months your down to lik e0.25mg daily then bam you quit and just have a long drawn out almost bad paws type experienec. Minor withdrawals but they get to you because of how long they last.. but it sounds like when you go that low people are really getting through it OK

I'd be interested to know how this turns out. I knew a guy who did the same thing, but he had tapered down to 1mg first. He hasn't touched opiates since Ibogaine. The whole story about how Ibogaine was initially discovered to treat opiate addicts is pretty weird..

YEA not much known about this treatment or what countrys allow this treatment but keep us updated if u go through with it .......i wish u the best where i live there is no ibogaine drs places facility not alotta people know about this good luck.

I'd be interested in hearing more as to how this pans out for you, i'm about to face a methadone detox the hard way (ie. no slow taper 14 to 21 days in detox) and wish i had the resources/family support to go out of country to try ibogaine. I am curious, are you a US citizen? Unfortunately it is difficult (understatement) for those of us in the states to get the means to use ibogaine in a controlled setting as i believe ibogaine is schedule 3 here, so the nearest opportunities are in canada and mexico. Based on my readings i would much rather go through ibogaine detox than whatever treatment modality this detox center is going to offer.

Thanks for all the support and answers.A little more info about me in -Suboxone has given me back my life- I now have a great job, a wife, and a house. 2 yrs ago I dropped off of subxoone at 1.5 mg and relapsed on pain pills because my back went out-and ended up abusing the pain medicne so back on suboxone. Suboxone does its job, but each morning I wake up with bad stomach pain/gas until the medicine sets in. By 8pm my legs are real sore and i am cranky- I am sick of this routine. When I drop below 2 mg I really feel the difference and have trouble egtting through my now busy day.

I have found several places to do Ibogiane for me lowest price is 4500 for 6 days, they said you do not go through PAWS as the Ibogaine resets your rectors to pre addiction status so they are delivering the dopamine the body stopped making because of the opiates. I am only concerned as they want me t go on short acting opiates for 6 weeks and both my wife and I are not happy with that prospect given my history. I will keep you all updated and appreciate any new comments on ibogaine treatment experience .

Thanks,

I met with my Suboxone doctor Friday, he told me that the new consensus is that it is much harder to get off suboxone, even small doses for 2mg, if you have been on it for long periods of time. He said that many doctors are now having patients go to short acting opiates and then withdrawal from them or tapper down from Suboxone and deal with the withdrawal symptoms- this is the first time any doctor has confided in me that they made a mistake by keeping anyone on this medicine for long periods of time. I appreciate his honesty but it did not make me feel better.

I spoke with a Ibogaine clinic which told me to go to short acting opiate for 5-6 weeks and then the Ibogaine can work - cost $4500. the reason being that Suboxne attaches to the receptors so tightly that it would not allow the ibogaine to attach.

Either way I want off Suboxone- it saved my life- gave me a career, bought my home, and got married- but now I fear losing all this when I come off as I can not deal with my high stress of a 100% commission sales job while I am going through PAWS.

So I am now planing on trying to come down slowly and if the PAWS proves to bad I will go on the short acting opiates and then the ibogaine- I will keep you posted.
Thanks,

Hey everyone, I am new to this forum, will start out by saying I have done the Ibogaine treatment with both Methadone and Suboxone. and have taken it in fairly large (but not full "flood" doses) on 2 other occasions, as well as a few small booster doses.
To clear it up, Ibogaine DOES work... BUT.. it also is by no means a miracle treatment and if you are trying to come off methadone, or especially Suboxone, it is no cake walk (yes, its true I cant even picture in my mind how to get off Subs without at least Ibogaine).
With that said I will also start by saying that I am back on Suboxone at this time because of my mind and body getting in really REALLY bad shape from the PAWS from Suboxone which seemed to stay consistent with little to no improvement over a period of two months and rapid weight loss and literally losing my mind. So to the OP , my personal opinion is to not try this unless you know you will be able to go through the process successfully because its not worth losing your life (and your mind with Suboxone especially it seemed) over getting off it. To anybody using Ibogaine for short acting opiates like Heroin Oxy Morphine etc.. I'm jealous its most likely a cake walk and I just might be free of this right now.

First time with Ibogaine was methadone, came home not feeling to great but there was no throwing up or anything like that, within 3 days I was in the PAWS and I even took two 5mg oxy percs and it brought me back to normal and plus a little bit so yea.. it works, and also, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT TAKING ANY OPIATE WHATSOEVER AFTER IBOGAINE... just because I was being a fool doesn't mean you got too .. . After a month the PAWS were going away , after 4 months I was pretty much there I was feeling good, I relapsed and got sucked back in within a few weeks, it doesn't take much to take you all the way back when your in recovery to say the least. I ended up on Suboxone...

To the OP, I know exactly what you mean... I got down to 2mg no problem thinking I was going to get off and finish what I started, nope, below 2mg , wow, that's when you hit the really steep part of Subs curve effect I'm assuming because I tried going down and I got sick so fast i went running back to the clinic 2 days later. I was able to get some more Ibogaine and try it with the Suboxone, I was coming off 2mg. After 2 months I was reduced to skin and bones because of my already super fast metabolism and I was losing my mind the chills sweats never ending and I was drinking unbelievable amounts of booze every day. It just wasn't going to happen for me. This does not mean that you will be unsuccessful though , if you have good supports , family , friends , and girlfriend or wife , the more support the better, I didnt have much more then a bottle of booze , it makes a BIG difference.

So basically to sum it up Ibogaine does work in getting you right past the WD's and into PAWS, but coming off Methadone or Suboxone be prepared for what your up against .

Also one more important note is that I simply could not afford or have proper sources to switch back to short acting opiates before I did it with either Mdone or Subs, I switched for a few days to short ones with both and that's it, it still worked good with the Meth and I would be clean today if I didn't relapse , but switching to short acting opiates for a good few weeks at least could make all the difference . I do not know.

One more point about Ibogaine the other benefit it has besides the help with opiates is it seems to be a very "spiritual" experience or life changing, however you want to put it, I do not regret taking it I am very lucky I believe to have had the chance to try it (I live in Canada it is unregulated here and there is clinics) it helped my social anxiety that i was born with ALOT, I am living with less fear of things i used to be afraid of and am not afraid to die, no regrets, not cheap though!
