for a minute truth smiles
for only a moment a passing glance
that smiling truth a grinning lie
did it ever stand a chance

I like short, succinct poems. They often say so much, and because they're short, encourage the reader to go over them more than once, picking up subtleties.

I especially love your first line: a great opening.
