I don't know if you're implying this is a bad thing, but if you are, it doesn't make sense. They are completely different animals. No one is going to get hooked on ibogaine.

Sure, there is a distinct possibility that some pharmaceutical companies will synthesize an ibogaine analogue, patent it, promote it as without the pesky side effects of hallucinations, and then administer it to people with all sorts of problems, including dependency. I really hope there will now be now a in public education (now that it's a little less taboo) about how these substances behave and ought to be treated, so that people can make informed decisions about treatment and avoid this possibility.

But yeah, if pharma tries to get people "hooked" on psilocybin like they're opioids, they're going to have a really hard time.
