Truffles gone bad after being unrefrigerated for 4 weeks? (Pics)

Hi guys, I bought some truffles from an online shop in Amsterdam and I stupidly forgot to refrigerate them... they've been in my cupboard for 4 weeks! Would they be ok to consume still? The shop seem to think that they can last up till 4 weeks before they start to decompose? Is this true? I don't want to get food poisoning or something. Below are some before and after pics! Thanks in advance

The photos are too small to determine anything. I'd be reluctant to eat unrefrigerated wet food after 4 weeks.

That's an extremely long time for moisture laden organic matter to stay fresh by any means. I would toss it and not risk my health.

Yes there's a bit of moisture there. i just wanted to know if 4 weeks unrefrigerated is ok as the shop seemed to think so but i want other opinions

Its true, that they can last max. 4 weeks in a fridge. But you have also to compromise that there was no uninterrupted cold chain, when you received them by mail!

Send that mess to your favorite politician and buy fresh ones. The financial loss is small. Place the new ones in the fridge as soon as you receive them.

It doesn't really matter if the fresh ones were outside the fridge for 3-4 hours while delivered and then instantly frozen after arrival, or?

No guys they have been out of the fridge for 4 weeks. I received them then forgot to put them in the fridge for 4 weeks that's why i wanna know if they're ok

How do they look and smell? Are there any signs of mould growth?

I always eat vegetables and mushrooms which have been in the fridge for weeks on end. I just rely on my senses to do what they were designed for.

If they smell funny, or look funny, or you have any serious doubts, then bin them.

Me and my girlfriend ate some P. semilanceatas which were mouldy last year (although relatively dry, they'd been sitting in a baggy but weren't 100% dry). If I remember rightly they smelt strongly of feet. Nothing happened other than they didn't work.

As above...pretty much guaranteed they're rotten.

Still active? Probable.

Will the rotting fungus make you sick? Even more probable.

I wouldn't do it man. It sucks you've effectively lost those truffles, but the potential illness that would likely follow eating them is a much worse outcome imo. Wouldn't you HATE to cop nasty food poisoning halfway through the peak? I know I wouldn't. I've had my digestive system give up on unchewed fibrous mushrooms, triggering a really unpleasant purge ending with Xanax and trip abortion (at roughly +4hrs). It scares me to think what it'd be like if it were from poisoning and not just the inability to break the stuff down...

This is simple....absolutly DO NOT eat that....it will get you sick with almost 100% certainty...now...how sick you will get is questionable....tripping + bacterial food poisoning from the very substance you consumed is just , well, a horrible idea.... the answer is NO.
