After reading a lot about negatives gabapentin, I decided to slowly taper off and give up completely. Unfortunately, I don't feel great; I cant sleep , I feel a depressed and out of sorts. I havent taken any for a week, so it hasn't been too long. I have been taking magnesium supplements, but thats about it. Any other tips?

Just to mention I gave up nicotine and caffine along with gabapentin, so thats probably adding to the overall feelings.

Thank you 8(

i used gabapentin to quit phenibut..i used gabapentin for 5-6 days then jumped off...i noticed low mood and motivation, increased anxiety but nothing too difficult..insomnia was there as well.definitely smart in quitting all types of stimulants..give it another week or so, should be up an going by then..depends on how long u used gaba and your prior drug use, how you feel normally etc etc..

Thanks for the reply. I have used for about a year, twice a week, sometimes three. Started off as legit medication for neuropathic pain, and became a crutch.

Feeling better, but then I had a shot of vodka to calm myself down.Hoping this helps with sleep.

Yeah I'm in the same position, only not motivated to quit. It was given out to me freely for no particular reason, and combined with my history of issues with GABA shit like booze and benzos, I'm now stuck on it. From everything I've heard the w/d shouldn't last more than 7-10 days at the outside, but you'll possibly have some post acute discomfort. All I can say is hang in there, it'll get better. I had essentially the same symptoms you describe starting 18-24hr. post dose.

Thanks for the reply. Thanks for the kind words. Its just so tempting to just take one or two gabapentin pills as I know ill go to sleep or become more relaxed...but not worth it in the long run.

I hope you try once again to come off it. Although it doesnt feel that way when withdrawing but being free of gaba type stuff is a lot better in the long run.

Exactly, EP, not worth it in the long run. You've put in the hardest work already, me thinks, by going that week without. IME, it's when the acute shit starts to die down that you have enough wits about you to crave respite. That's the cruelest thing about gabapentin or benzo withdrawal (or opiate withdrawal for that matter): it's when you're getting to the end that a different sort of craving comes up - one for normality.

And you know that taking just a pill or two will get you to normality in a snap of the fingers. That's temptation. But you'll make it. I can tell by the conviction in your posts that you really believe - you really know - that you'll be so much better off in the long run without that slavery in your life.

Keep walking the path. You're almost out of the woods.
