Trouble with dilaudid

Long time reader, first time poster.

I have come into some 4 mg dilaudids (they used to be hard to find) and have been using them since yesterday. I have always found dilaudid to be hard to dose and somewhat inconsistent in effects (i.e. 2 mgs wont do anything, and then later ill do 4mgs and be nodding). I have somewhat of a tolerance to opiates, I prefer oxycodone mostly, and 25 to 30mgs (with a 25mg redose later in the day) is a solid dose for me.

I always like to play things safe, so yesterday I started with 2mg insulflated, which didn't do much, then continued to do 2mgs more throughout the day until I reached 11mgs. I didn't really catch a buzz all day from it. This morning I started with 4mgs, then 30 mins later did another 2, then aprox an hour later I did another 4mgs for a total of 10mgs. I have a pretty mild opiate buzz right now that is reminiscent of morphine; I would like to be feeling more of the 'nods' / euphoria, but I don't want to overdo things, so I am laying off it for awhile today I think.

I guess my question is should I be dosing larger at first (i.e. 8 mgs to start with)? Also, if I redoes later today (again I've done 10mgs so far) will that be any more effective for me?

Lastly, I have 30mgs of oxycodone that I am saving for tomorrow, and I am wondering if the dilaudid usage will make this dose (which is a good one for me) less effective.

Thanks so much in advance. Hope you are all enjoying your week.

I find dilaudid to be a very useless drug unless your in the hospital getting IV doses every 3 hours..in general its way to fast / short acting, it isn't very effective for pain. when it says on the RX bottle "take 1 tablet every 2-4 hours, maximum daily dose 8 tablets" that shows its just a pain in the ass and not effective much. I had a bunch of 4's, and, I would IV one get a fast intense rush for 3 seconds, and I was back to sober, no buzz nothing, I banged pill after pill until I ran out. I think it should be a schedule 1 drug, atleast heroin lasts longer and works better for pain..

look at the opioid conversion chart on here to see the equivalency of 30mg oxy to ur dilaudid dosage.
