Trippy animated films

I thought that Princess Mononoke was pretty cool while tripping. Any Miyazaki film would look pretty cool while on a psychedelic I suppose, his landscape work in absolutely amazing and he develops characters better than almost any animated film director.

Flipped threw and dont think anyone said it but Heavy metal is an awesome animated movie. there's even a seen with a couple of druggie aliens that do space coke. Also Cheech and Chong did an animated movie movie recently that was alrit. However I noticed that a lot of the audio was just there old tapes.

there's a short film called "More" that's pretty trippy.

Is this the film that Pink Floyd did the music for..?

Speaking of Floyd, there's a difference between a trippy movie & a movie for tripping. The Wall, for instance, is a trippy movie but it is a bit disturbing & is not really for watching tripping.

Agreed, first class anime too, one of the first I saw after my gf introduced me to the genre!

No, "More" uses New Order's "Elegia." I posted it above already but now I found a decent streaming version. I recorded an airing of it on the old SciFi channel short film show Exposure and used to watch it a lot after smoking with my friends back in high school. I believe it was nominated for an Oscar. I recommend being at least high for your first viewing, listening through decent headphones or speakers, watching on a large screen if possible, and dimming the lights (click vimeo in the corner to enable full screen):

Idk if anyone mentioned it but me and my buddies watched princess mononoke when we were on acid, was an awesome movie for tripping

EDIT: totally mentioned already haha

Gonna agree with Princess Mononoke, Paprika, The Animatrix, and FLCL.

Other Miyazaki movies (Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, Totoro) are also superb and, frankly, friendlier and more colorful than Princess Mononoke. Other Studio Ghbili contributions are still great, but especially Pom Poko. The only movie of their catalog that I would not recommend while tripping is Grave of the Fireflies. Memories (Magnetic Rose), is also a darker anime but it has three shorts and 2 of them are funny/weird enough that they would be enjoyable while tripping. I can also recommend the Trigun series and movie and Cowboy Bebop, as well as the recently released series Space Dandy. The Triplets of Belleville is great (although a departure from Japanese animation). Weird but definitely meant for people on drugs would be Adventure Time.

Pixar movies should not be overlooked either (if computer animation is fine), especially Up, Wall-e, and Finding Nemo.

I give you Neo Toykyo 3 short films that are very twisted possibly a bad trip for some, but intrigue is there IMO

Oldschool anime is deep and really quite strange http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKLYovXeJls the Pincushion man may have you on the ground laughing or it may put you in a corner.....same goes for oldschool woody woodpecker and some oldschool Popeye anything from the 30 and 40's for American anime

Japanimation is cool, Princess Monanoke has been mentioned, Steamboy is great as is Ninja Scroll and Evangelion and Escaflowne.

The Secret of NIMH is an old all time favorite, reminds me so much of my childhood
