Tripping on LSD and Confusion

hey guys im new here and in need of some assistance.

i have tripped on lsd twice and both times i have been overcome with unsettling confusion. i would tell you what i was confused about but i'm not sure. both of the times I did it i was having an amazing time. i didn't see anything scary or remembered any scary thoughts. then a few hours into the trip (both times) i became confused and in this confusion my mind was in a knot or a loop i suppose.

my mind could not stop focusing and thinking about something. i was also having mind lapses (forgetting something i just thought of) which i hear is common and that im assuming made the confusion worse. this confusion pretty much over took my trip both times.

the first time this happened to me it occurred for about two hours or so but then it kind of subsided. the second time it occurred it never really subsided.

Now my questions are
1. is this confusion common or has it happened to anyone else?
2. If so is there any explanation for it?
3. what should i do to do to avoid this?
4. Would this be considered having a bad trip?

i really appreciate the help guys.

Yeah loop thoughts are pretty common on acid, and more so the less physically and visually stimulating the environment is because you are more focused on your thoughts. I find the way to do it is have a lot to entertain myself with, and just move around a lot. If you find something confusing or uncomfortable you can just take some time away from it and maybe confront it a little later. Suffice to say what you're experiencing is nothing unusual and as for bad trips you'll know it when and if you ever have one, they're kind of unmistakable. Keep in mind though there can still be a lot learned from them.

Don't smoke weed lol.

Just thinking about thought loops makes me laugh. "How the fuck do I get out of this?!" I agree with Tangerino, it helps to switch up the scenery. If you have someone else with you just tell them you're stuck and see if they can help change the topic or get a conversation going.

Don't fight or resist it. Just lie back, let go, and enjoy it knowing that you'll be alright.

Interesting. "Confusion" is one of the last words I'd use to describe LSD, except for maybe the come-up. I find it very focused and "zen" during the peak.

Once the peak has passed, during the comedown, I am sometimes overcome with an intense urge to hyper-analyze reality, and think about thinks very logically and deeply.

Regardless, I suggest trying to find the "zen" in LSD, because I personally find it highly rewarding. Try listening to music. Actually, try not trying at all. Just be. And do this on a higher dose. It sounds to me like you ate a mediocre dosage.

Write. See if you can figure out what the hell you were confused about later. Actually, you might be able to make some sense of it as you're writing.

just go with it dude, dont fight it. i found that on acid stuff like this is pretty easy to get by compared to shrooms.

yea, too low a dose can be more dysphoric that psychedelic. at proper truly "tripy" levels the real psychedelic effects are more focused and you are usually too distracted by wonder and beauty and insight to be bothered by a little fragmentation or minor body load.

Heh confusion and though looping can happen on LSD and when you're tripping on a psychedelic even THC.

No this would not be considered a bad trip.

This is a common effect of LSD. I advise tripping indoors in a comfortable environment, setting will allow you to enjoy this confusion rather than fear it. Also don't consume any other drugs (unless it's something like valium to help you relax) as I find this increases the confusion of LSD, just sit back and enjoy the trip and it's common (positive) side-effects.

Avoid weed, and people who dont understand the experience (or at least avoid talking to them while under the influence)
