Hey guys I'm tripping balls on DXM and it doesn't feel very good can I take Seroquel to abort the trip?

I couldn't fathom eating on anything like DXM. If you can then go for it, it wouldn't hurt short of maybe making you sick.

What type of product did you take? Don't try to monitor your vitals your perception is screwed. I'm telling you breath don't worry it will be fine, toss on some head phones and listen to some music laying down In the dark.

I took Nighttime Cough by the brand "Family Wellness" and it has 6.25mg of doxylamine succinate and 15mg of DXM. I put on some headphones and it's really helping me to calm down thank you very much!!!

I figured it would be a good way to trip on DXM since it almost had nothing but DXM. I probly shouldn'tve drank the whole bottle though when I took some tramadol earlier. I feel better though with music thanks it was crappy being stuck in my own thoughts.

Also, are you taking on any other meds? DXM has a lot of interactions with other drugs that affect serotonin.

After doing a search on DXM and Seroquel it appears that people have used it to abort DXM trips successfully. It's mainly a serotonin antagonist (except for at 5-HT1A) so it is likely to block the excess serotonin from the DXM. It will not likely affect the NMDA activity of DXM/DXO.

Just because people have done it though doesn't mean it's safe. Maybe try as small of a dose as possible. The safest thing to do is of course seek medical attention if you think you are having a bad reaction the DXM.

EDIT: I just saw that you had taken tramadol as well which is likely what caused the bad reaction. Both DXM and tramadol increase serotonin and taking them both means too much serotonin. It's a pretty dangerous combo. If you feel like you're getting better and past the worst of it hopefully you'll be fine but in the future be careful of combining any drugs without first checking possible interactions! Serotonin toxicity is very serious and is what you are experiencing. Serotonin antagonists like Seroquel are what a hospital would likely administer but without supervision you could further endanger yourself.

I think Aspartame (splenda) can be reduced to aspartic acid under basic conditions but don't quote me on that. Try looking at apspartic acid and aspartame since those are NMDA agonists although might not be competitive enough or have a high enough affinity to do much.

Also, I'm pretty sure Seroquel is a potent 5-HT2a/c antagonist, not agonist although I can't remember about 1a. Also, FWIW, I've used Seroquel to successfully abort LSD, DXM, Mescaline, mushroom and DMT trips with success and those both have serotonergic effects (although the affinities are relatively low, they are actually analogous, etc) but I was young and had no idea about serotonin syndrome. If you have naloxone that might work too.

Personally, I would start thinking of having your trip sitter (guessing you don't have one) take you to an ER because you took Tramadol and either substance by itself can be toxic in ODs, but especially when taken together (serotonin syndrome) and especially considering that Tramadol lowers the seizure threshold. The "shakey" feeling sounds pretty troubling...

Obviously, be more careful next time.

Aspartame won't help serotonin toxicity, which is the danger in this case. I think OP is either in the hospital by now or is in a fetal position feeling like he is freezing to death waiting for it to pass. Or maybe the doxylamine just knocked him out. I had a bad serotonin toxicity incident with dxm and another drug & it is hell. I hope the OP is okay. Please give an update. Best of luck to you...

No, but he was asking for things to reverse the effect or abort the "trip" which an NMDA agonist should do theoretically.

That being said, it does sound like he got some serotonin syndrome because he mixed Tramadol with DXM... I hope he is okay too. I've never felt SS but I've read some awful experiences.

OP, please let us know if you are okay.

Hey guys I'm definitely okay by now thank you very much for the concerns haha. Actually the worst of it past shortly after I asked the question and music really helped me to mellow out. Whatever you guys do don't take excessive amounts of DXM with Tramadol!!!!!!!!

I don't think any of us would.

Not meaning to come off harshly, but anytime you mix drugs you need to make sure it is safe. It's not only common sense but it's also inline with the harm reduction purpose of this board. If you had asked if it was safe beforehand you would have gotten the answer that would have prevented this whole thing. It really is a life and death situation.

Serotonin Syndrome I know zip about. Sorry to ask under your post but a girl I knew used to take 4-6 Soma's when she wanted to get "messed up" after this she would be so messed up she could hardly move. Shaking like an earth quake. Colder than winter. And mumbling words not making any sense I used to carry her sometimes cause she couldnt walk. Is that SS? Or a really messed up trip?

I'm glad you pulled through. That's what bluelight is for so people can learn from other peoples experiences. Doing a bit of homework before attempting any drugs can save you a lot of misery or even your life. Kind of like you'd read the instructions before using a power tool.

@ Laid2Rest, Soma is not known for effecting serotonin but can cause seizures. However I did find this article on a quick search.

Carisoprodol intoxications and serotonergic features. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15732445

Sorry for the late reply, only just seen this thread mate tried DXM properly for the first time last night and hated it.

I took 100mg Quetiapine and 2mg of Lorazepam it put me to sleep. Felt much better after it.

Will never try DXM again, no idea what people like about it... Each to their own though. Much prefer opioids. Warm & fuzzy hugs :)
