Tripping at a classical music concert

Hey, I know that tripping and classical music have been covered here - but mostly in regards to hearing the music on your stereo. I am however considering doing a small-medium dose of something and attending a classical concert. However, given the slightly formal nature of classical live performances, I don't know whether this would be an optimal idea and I was hoping that some of you might be able to weigh in. Another of my thoughts is that I find live classical music to be rather trippy (as in perplexing, emotionally powerful and generally breathtaking) in the first place - would it then make sense to "stack some peaks" - so to (s)peak?

Thanks!

Well for one thing, I am partial to a bit of classical music and think that perhaps experiencing a real orchestra perform would be a spectacular experience while tripping.

The formality of the situation comes down to this: do you know that you can handle yourself in such situations on the dosage that you would take?

I thought about this once and I think it would be SOO TIGHT. Even sober seeing one of those would be great. Depending how long it is I would say just eat a 4-6 hour chem that doesn't make you 'goofy'. If you decide to stack peaks you might not be peaking at the high (no pun intended) points of the concert.

Sounds like an awesome idea to me. I might actually bring this up with my friends and see what their opinions are. What were you considering taking lulz?

I think 2C-C might be an excellent candidate. Otherwise a low dose of LSD could be good. I am not terribly familiar with tripping (hard) in public, but I think it could be okay. Thanks for the input! :)

classical music concerts are quite psychedelics in thier own right, it would be quite awesome to enjoy the two together

but having been to one beofre i wouldnt enjoy whilst on psychs

the people are so stuffy and its just not a psychedelic environment, i would recommend against it but with the right other people n mind frame it might be ok

Did you ever see the movie, 'Arthur'? I'm thinking of the sound of Dudley Moore laughing out loud uncontrolably while sitting in the private box at a symphony concert. Or was that Harris, from the Post... from the movie ' Where the Buffalo Roam' sitting up there? Those people always ruin it for everybody else! %)

Just watch out for those band members, though. You might just find that one or more of them seem to be staring at you the entire time they're playing. Kinda creepy, but kinda funny at the same time.

FUCK YES! DO IT! IT'S EPIC!

I went to a 8-hour rendition of Wagner on a fairly high dose of 2C-E (30mg) and was fine There was a 30 minute break half way through and that was probably the most difficult part of the experience to navigate. The live experience is totally different- I mean, if you can see the orchestra playing and/or have a view of the crowd (upper seating is best) it can result in some mindblowing synthesiasia/visuals.

Then again, I've taken a lot of psychedelics, like wagner and live classical music in general. YMMV. Or it could just be a fidgety, boring trip with quite epic music. If the effects become overwhelming just close your eyes and focus on the music. It's really not much different from going to a cinema on psychses.

As for reccomendations- you definately want something that you are comfortable and familiar with. This is not just a public area- this is a CONSERVATIVE area, you'll probably stand out simply because you're 50 years younger than the median age of most of the audience. You need something that you know you're gonna enjoy and not get paranoid or spazz out on. For me that's 2C-E or DOC- but LSD just makes me far too fucking introspective for public consumption.

If drugs were legal, I'd smoke dmt while on ketamine. But I imagine whipping out a crackpipe (what I use to smoke dmt) as the music swells would be funny, but get a lot of odd looks.

i think its quite possible and would be very interesting... just have to be careful when picking hte venue and event, and it would be a good idea to have a sitter friend with you in case things get uncomfortable...

low doses of familiar chems like everyone else said so far. also, the upper seats are better and sometimes separated from the next couple of seats, so it can get pretty private.

its also probably a shame that the crowds at such events are rather stuck up. imagine a raving scenario on some pieces of classical music. now that would be awesome! :D

I already considered getting a back seat for such an adventure - hopefully with some space to other people. This would also allow for a sneaky exit in case anything happened - feeling like you've shit your pants etc (something that usually happens to me when tripping).

In not too long there is an event at my uni library which will consist of listening to jazzy music while jotting down some diary notes in solitude - could be good :)

Very instructive answer, good advices, I seriously want to try a classical concert trip someday.

OP, do you intend to have a good sober friend with you? That should make you feel safer, and besides, you may go to a bar after the concert, and you can express all the awe you had to shut it during the concert: "Beethoven, man! That theme, short-short-short-long, that fucking is the meaning of life!"

This can be a rewarding experience if you just use some common sense. Dress appropriately for the venue, and dose at a 'museum level'. If you're not overly nervous, you'll be fine. I've twice taken LSD, and gone to musical performances at a cathedral. Once was classical orchestral, the other was a renowned pipe organist. Huge vaulted ceilings, ornate religious decoration, and intricate stained glass windows. Wonderful experience.

About 20 years ago I took a low dose of mescaline and walked through the local historical art museum. It was a fascinating time. Hell, even the ceiling looked great!

That would be lovely one day : ]

Personally, I can handle myself well in any situation no matter what state I'm in. As long as it's not psychedelics I suppose, since then things get quite interesting and it's hard to restrain one's self :P depending on the amount.
