Tripping (acid) specifically to cultivate a spiritual atmosphere: suggestions?

Something I've always wanted to do is drop acid with the express purpose of being with a small group (ideally 3-4 people, including myself) and having an earnest discussion about human spirituality. It's taken quite some time, but I have finally identified a few of my close trip-mates who I believe would be interested in such a journey. None of us follow an organised religion; personally I am fairly lost and looking to gain some perspective through a combination of processing others' ideas and a helpful state of being :)

I'm looking for suggestions for things like:

What kind of preparation/action - environmental, mental, so on - would help for this kind of experience?

Where would be a good environment? Somewhere familiar? Far away? Outdoors? Day or night?

What of timing? Would it be best for us all to take a few days off things like work and other commitments before embarking? (certainly some time off afterwards will be crucial!)

Also, if you've ever entered a trip for this purpose, please tell me of our experiences!

preparation - water/veggie/fruit fast
action - meditation, yoga prior to the trip, take a long hike out in nature
environmental - in nature, under a full moon, at night, have a fire

yes, try to be as silent as possible for a few days beforehand. don't watch tv, read, listen to the radio, use the computer. try to be outdoors in nature as much as possible.

Also, if you've ever entered a trip for this purpose, please tell me of our experiences!

Nature+daytime always works for me. I absolutely hate night time tripping for any other purpose than to have a bad trip. I find my most spiritual trips have been solo and sitting on the beach. Ive always found the ocean a relaxing place though. I find that when I trip I tend to be on a different level than those around me even when doing the same dose. I just let my mind run while others try to dictate random things that dont make sense to anyone but them.

Seems you have some fear in you. Tripping on LSD alone in a dark room can take you to the deepest depths into yourself, then outside of yourself.

Don't be afraid, let go of your fear of a bad trip. That fear in itself will lead to a bad trip. Learn how to let go of fear.

There is some, however I think a good part may have been those I was around were tripping negatively as well and it overwhelmed me to the point that I make a habit of avoiding it now. The last time, a dude almost stabbed himself. So yeah, I dont trip with him or at night for those reasons

i liked timothy leary's idea of giving people psychedelics in a church. you might not be able to find a church though, so outside is another good location.

I'd say that group tripping may sound like a good idea, but could turn out bad. if somebody has a bad trip, it's going to fuck everybody. I find that tripping alone is more personal and enjoyable.

Setting: anywhere you are comfortable to be yourself. Outside is best, obviously. I'd do a fast a few days before hand: fruits, veggies, water only. Cleanse your body before you cleanse your mind.

I like to trip at night. Outside it is enjoyable to trip during a warm, sunny day, then sit by a fire or something at night and simply reflect on the trip you had.

I'd find some literature that you particularly enjoy-- specifically some from the religious or spiritual ideas that you follow. Read those a few days before hand so you are in that mindset. Meditation during the trip would also work nicely.

Let us know how it turns out.

^I find that helping someone else through a difficult psychedelic experience can be quite rewarding, but I agree that it's not exactly spiritual. Tripping in the day is wonderful, I like to time it so that the trip is winding down as the sun sets. The best way to have a spiritual trip IME is simply to occupy your mind with spiritual thoughts beforehand, and to have any "spiritual cues" (crosses, mandalas, incense, or whatever works for you) present.

Thanks for all the suggestions thus far; it's given me a lot to think about.

Not so long ago I tripped while watching the Orionid meteor shower, from a remote area free of light pollution. We had a pretty sweet set-up, complete with mattresses and sleeping bags set up outdoors. Since we had dropped just before midnight, the trip started to wind down just in time to watch the sun rise. That was an amazing experience.

I like the idea of a fruit/veg fast beforehand; it seems like just the kind of bodily purification which would aid a spiritual mindset.

Amen to that, brother!

Might be alright if only to observe the kind of things others see in their religion/s.
