Triple J's Hottest 100 2004...

keystroke said:
I absolutely loathe Black Betty, I mean, seriously - you're a well established local Australian band, then you go out and churn shit such as "Black Betty" which is absolute rubbish!

or perhaps it's just me

what's sad is that they had to do a cover to achieve such chart success, and then in an attempt to retain it they release a single which is attractive to buyers purely because of its offensive content :\

^^ yeah but it's not like the cover was their first ever released single. Unlike other bands.

I got no idea who will win this year.
Some of my friends and i get into huge arguements over the JJJ hottest 100 when we're at BDO.

I'd like to see imagine up there in top 10, such a great version of the song. even if it IS a cover! But we won't know till the day

Or Shannon "I like to drink & drive" Noll .What about Me? Finishing as the top selling single of the year in the commerical charts.Oh dear!!! 8(
No wonder I don't listen to MOST commerical music.

Personally,in this day and age,I hate cover songs being popular singles.Original stuff is better ;) .

why the arguing over commercial music? if your music has been made into a cd and sold, its commercial. if you have played a gig that requires a fee to get in, its commercial.

unless you like tapping your thighs to make a beat, all the music you listen to is commercial. simple

^^^

depends if you take the term as literally as you have. most people tend to agree that when it comes to music, if something is considered commercial it has been made first and foremost for financial success as opposed to artistic reasons. you don't have to sellout to be successful, though these days it helps :)

but in making my comment I failed to disclose that I really like Powderfinger ;)

Word ;) I'm NOT taking the term literally.

Your reasoning is spot on with what I meant :) .
