Was browsing through the forums and I came across a thread stating tricyclic antidepressants have effects with opiates? Posted a thread the other day stating I was prescribed 10mg capsules of Nortiptyline. I'm a regular opiate user, taking about 150mg of hydrocodone a day.

My question is, does it really make the hydro more potent? What would the dosing be? Any input is greatly appreciated.

It synergises with the opiate, although I'm not familiar with nortriptyline, I don't know if it's sedating or stimulating. But tricyclic ADs which are sedative add to the nod of opies.

TCAs are commonly taken with opiates and boost their effects, mostly the sedation but also the euphoria to a lesser extent.

TCAs and opiates is nothing unknown and some drug tests(both store bought and ones in rehab clinics) test for TCAs mainly for that reason.

I'm on Dosulepin and have noticed that they do synergise with Opiates nicely.
Nothing major, just sedation and a bit of "strange feeling" anxiety relief.
But definitely not on par with Benzos.

Nortriptyline will be very similar to Dosluepin, even more similar to Amitriptyline.
