Tricky question

Hello all! I'm new here.

I have a question regarding Buprenorphine. I have been taking subutex as well as suboxone for quite a while for opiate wd.

I have been sick (not sure with what) for about four days. Chest congestion, bad cough, high fevers,, headaches. I'm convicted it is viral as my fiancé was sick before me.

Now to my question: for the last three days of the virus I have been continuing my usual dosage of bupe...I am wondering if it's a bad idea to take it while I'm sick. Is it stifling my recovery, or possibly aggravating my symptoms, OR is it totally fine to continue taking it normally?

Sorry if this question is difficult to understand, I will reiterate if necessary.

If your taking your regular maintenance dose then it should not really have too much of an impact on it. I would imagine all opiates have an effect on the immune system but it's probably only minor and really only effects those who are already immuno compromised. Going through withdrawal would put way more additional stress on a sick body then just taking the meds through it. At least in my opinion.

Thank you for the answer. I'm not nearly as experience with bupe as I am the real opiates.. I'm three months clean from any kind of opiate (except the subs which are agonist).

Agreed, stay on subs or you'll feel much worse!!
