Treating addiction with hydromorphone saves lives and money, experts say

So cool, thanks for posting OP! It's like HAT but with just a slightly shorter acting type of opioid (well, IMO hydromorphone had shorter legs than heroin, but I could be wrong). Any option for people who want to inject potent full agonist opioids is better than copping god knows what to inject into their bodies from the streets.
 
Goddam, it's incredible how some drug users internalize so much of the Drug War bullshit. Never thought I'd see so much hate for progress from the ones it's meant to help...

I'll admit I don't understand hydromorphone over morphine but when you're giving it to people it really doesn't matter--the cost of production is pennies one way or the other. The goal is just reducing health and community costs associated with addiction, the substance becomes irrelevant.
