Treated For Depression?

LD50 vs SSRI: Perhaps you should avoid trying to take MDMA with your SSRIs. If you're already taking medication for depression it's probably not a great idea to take illegal drugs that make you depressed and leave you feeling down for days. Furthermore, as you've mentioned, SSRI anti-depressants reduce/nullify the effect of MDMA for many people, so you're pretty much putting on the brake and the accelerator at the same time, and getting nowhere fast.

I totaly agree with u big trancer but since i havent been rolling in about a good 10 weeks and just sticking to lovan does this mean when i go for a roll, taking pre and postloading into account that my roll will be some what dull? However i have stoped medication as of today prior 1 week to taking my next dose of mdma P.s sorry im a wee bit stoned hope wat i said made sense. Thanks

Whilst doing a bit of research on 5htp 6ish months ago, I keps coming up with references to a 2 week detox period for current anti depressants, all quoting seretonin syndrome as a possible side effect(I can't find any references now can somone confirm this). But I'd be wary of pre loading so soon
 
Thanks for ya help quintell can anyone back this ?? how bout if i say have a dose of mdxx without the pre and postloading would this cause neurotoxicity or serotonin syndrome ??

ld50 vs ssri: From what I've read with MAOI's stay away from MDXX. As for SSRI's MDXX will work, not as effective as would be after a good detox/brain recoup period, and the comedown is supposed to be significantly worse
 
Cheers m8 i allready new all that. thanks i spose i might just have to ditch the fluoxetine and take the depression that comes with over use of mdxx and serotonin depletion
 
there are anti'ds that won't effect your roll, the're listed in the aformentioned FAQ, a group of chems called Heterocyclics. after trying so many ssri's and realising they wernt for me i'm now on a drug called Mirtazapine, i can still roll, i sleep like a baby and i feel great!! Has anyone else tried or know much about Mirtazapine just for interest sake
 
JayJ - Mirtazapine was the 7th & last anti-depressant variety for me, after other heterocyclics Nefazodone & Venlafaxine. Can't comment on the interaction with rolls but I do know there were no where near as many side effects as SSRIs & Tricyclics
 
I was using avanza for a while, not for a/d reasons but to assist in pain relief. I found that it caused sedative type effects, 30 mins or so adter ingestion. I stopped it eventually due to no noticeable relief.

Back on topic, I never had E with it so cant comment on interaction.

To the poster who wanted to know what the doc would suggest, yes it would probabaly be an ssri though you would be best to avoid them unless you are in bad shape and really need chemical assistance for depression.

Yep I'm on Mirtazapine. It seems to be working fairly well for me. first few months i slept a ridicoulous amount (but thats what i kindof needed as i couldnt sleep at night) and put on shit loads of weight :p
Now i have a more regular sleep pattern (I still sleep heaps but its not as bad)

It doesn't noticably effect me when i roll.


So I have a question: If I can get the doctor to prescribe me drugs for depression, what kind of drugs will they be?
...Will they affect my rolls or trips in any way? Any other info would be appreciated too

Not sure if this is recomended but i will say it anyway. :\
My friend who suffers from depression and is already on an antidepressant (prozac) went to the Dr because he had difficulty sleeping and got perscribed cerepax (which i think is like valium).
Bare in mind not all Dr's will do this- when i tried with mine (I wanted some cerepax or similar) I got taken off zoloft and on to Mirtazapine - which in away was a blessing in disguise as it treated my depression alot better. But it's not a drug i can use socially. :p
come to think of it the doctor probably did this because he knew i had taken drugs in the past.


Like larrylickchops said I wouldn't go on an anti depressant unless you really need it.

i was prescribed this after a massive drug binge over 2 months involing lsd/speed/mdma combos and my usual excessive amounts of weed (halfounce/week_) not to mention physcial exhustion from dancing around 24 hours a week hehe. i wont go into depths of the experince but bascially after the drugs and money ran out i woke up the next day not knowing who i was. mates sister found me sitting on the lounge with tears steraming down my face. i wasnt crying just tears rolling down. i managed to call my mum (i know this sounds lame) and she drove to sydney ot pick me up and take me home (as in her house in a country town 3 hours away). she is a trained psychiatric nurse and works at a large mental hospitial. she knew what was up without me even talking. within two weeks of taking avanza i was back to my normal self with no drug addictions at all!

shame the way it fucks you up when you smoke weed.... i eventually stopped taking avanza and went back to my normal drug filled life, although with a more wiser and healthly outlook on life and drugs in general.

one of my mates claimed the rest of my avanza and used it on mdma comedowns. i dont know how dangerous this is but i wouldnt do it.

anyway hope this helps, and makes sense. im on day 4 of no weed so heh. who says weed isnt physcially addictive. heh.

Needing anti deppressant to improve your rolls?????? Maybe a break would be better for the brain box Evandar. Sounds like the magic has gone. You aint gonna get it back from pharmaceuticals thats for sure you'll end up more head fucked than ever. When your drugs aren't stimulating you enough it means something. Moderation is the key

I never said that I needed anti depressants to improve my rolls - I said that I had the chance to go to the doctor to be checked out for depression and, not knowing anything about SSRI's or antidepressants in general and so I asked for some general information about them, I was especially concerned about how and if they would affect my rolls. I've also discovered from past experience that if one person has a question, its a safe bet there are a few other people wondering the same thing, hopefully this thread has educated some people other than myself about ssri's and antidepressants...

Now i'm going to stick up for myself because i'm a bit sick and tired of people misreading posts or only reading what they want to read and making misinformed comments due to their own lazyness - so next time goodfellas I suggest you actually read the posts before commenting - and as much as I appreciate your advice concerning my brain box I'd rather you kept it to yourself.

Hey man i never said that you said you needed them. I was asking u the question. Maybe you should read a bit better. No hard feelings bloke. What was your plans anyway? You quoted you didn't have depression so why else would you be thinking of acquiring them?

i think he wants them for social use. :)
If this is the case i wouldnt try for anti-s' but maybe a downer like valium or stronger.
 
I suppose I should tell my story too, I like this thread. I have been prescribed Dothep, which is a TCA. And I find it quite enjoyable just for the record. Anyway, I am planning on having a role next weekend, and was assuming I would get away with it and still have a great role coz I am on quite a low dose (25mg). Anyone have any advice for me? As much as I like my dothep, I think I like my MDMA better, life is full of difficult choices :) I wasn't entirely convinced I needed the AD's but I was thinking along similar lines to evandar.

I was asking if there were any types of antidepressants that can treat depression *without* effecting my rolls.
