trazadone to stop shroom trip?

It wouldn't be my first choice. In fact I would much rather deal with whatever was the problem with the trip than use trazadone. Sounds like a nasty thing to do to yourself to me. I doubt it would end a trip - just make it more confused and fuzzy. It also metabolises to mCPP which alone would be enough to for me to find a benzo or just go with it.
Bad trips are rare anyway - you'll most likely be so busy laughing your arse off that you'll forget about the trazadone. But if you want a Get Out of Jail Free card then benzos are far better. They also won't end a trip but will calm you down and bring you down gently - much better than something as harsh as trazadone, in my opinion.

Trazadone is an anti-depressant with sedating effects, not an anti-psychotic (and it's not a typical SSRI either). It might knock you out, depending on your tolerance to it, but I agree it's probably more likely to make things more confusing. The anti-depressant effects may dull a trip, but you need to take a fairly high dose for awhile to get those effects, I don't think it would act as an immediate "abort", unless of course you did end up falling asleep (not likely while tripping).
It gives me the worse hangover, worse than anything I've ever taken (or drank for that matter). I get that burnt-out feeling, like I just smoked an ounce of pot, for at least the entire next day. An awful pressure in my head, irritability, and the "cotton candy brain" feeling as I like to call it. Nasty stuff imo.

You can try. I tried to abort a morning glory trip but just be prepared for it not to work very well. I just ended up having nightmares that were just about as bad as being awake.

Honestly, it is so much better an option to experience your first bad trip than abort it; it will change your perspective on tripping for the better, and perhaps, if you choose to use it as such, your perspective on your life. Any trip can be saved, any trip can be learned from.

I concur that taking a benzo to chill out a bit and riding it out would be a much preferable option. In our house we keep diazepam and nitrazepam (to calm down anyone who freaks out a bit and to facilitate sleep on a comedown respectively) both of which I have very occasionally used. To totally stop a nightmare of a trip we also keep some 5mg olanzapine (Zyprexa, a fairly modern atypical antipsychotic) tablets handy. I've never felt the need to use these but they've helped a couple of friends who insisted on redosing before their first dose of a long-acting psych has kicked in, thinking it hadn't worked 8)
5mg will bring the freakout to a close and 10mg will pretty much knock a non-regular user out for several hours of sleep! I'm told it makes you feel pretty ropey for several hours the next day though, even affecting your sense of taste - yuk! Definitely one for emergencies only. I really don't think trazadone would cut the mustard in comparison.
I really wouldn't dwell on the possibility of a bad trip though. Get in to a positive and relaxed mindset before you trip, and if you can't you're not ready for psychedelics yet. Much the most likely way to have a bad trip is to think yourself in to one
Be in a safe place with a trusted friend and have some favourite music handy. I hope that when you're ready you have a great trip experience

once gave my wife 4mg or so of ativan, 10mg diazepam to help with a bad trip. did nothing much for the trip, wasnt until after she came down when she slept a good while its effect became apparent!
