i think i will be withdrawing from an opiate habit soon.

is it a terrible idea to take some trazadone to help me sleep? if it is not, how much should I take? I've never taken it before and know nothing about it, other than that i was told it would help me sleep.

i just looked it up on wikipedia and probably won't take it. i dont want to fuck with my serotonin system and i dont know whether it will mix poorly with other drugs, even though i dont intend to mix it with anything i don't know if there could be adverse effects even a day or two later.

i would still like to have this discussion though.

idk about the serotonin thing but i never had much trouble, tho i didnt take it long.

its awesome for sleep but beware, you might/probaly will have crazy dreams. i was warned but didnt listen. it could also cause bad dreams on top of your sleep problems/crazy dreams from drug w/d.

it works really good, i used it for 6 days and i was knocked out in an hour, for at least 10 hours but the nightmares (i ate a bunch of bars and stabbed people lol) made me stop. fuck that.

you more then likely will wake up groggy as hell to. ill put it this way, its good if you have nothing to do in the morning but you really really cannot sleep.

Personally, all it takes is 50mg to knock me out.

You could use it to help you get some sleep, as you're going to need it to help with your mood and therefore the success of your kick.

It increases serotonin levels, so you can't mix it with MDMA or similar drugs, no DXM, aMT or anything else that increases extracellular serotonin.

yah the trazadone will definitely help you go to sleep, but the traz will make your RLS worse. the sedation from trazadone is caused by antagonism of histamine receptors; the sedation is similar to dip henhydramine, promethazine, ect...

Just thought i would tell you that i have had some real issues with trazadone it gives me actual night terrors and although they list dry mouth as a side effect i had NO clue how bad that shit could actually be! Just wanted to tell u about my experience.

Dry mouth was bad. Strange dreams (none too bad) though there's a side effect called priapism which is long lasting painful erections which I experienced while in rehab. They gave me blood pressure meds and what not and it killed my boners for like a full week straight lmao. But yeah I was on a 150mg/night dose. Low dose like 50mg/night should be fine. Sublingual usage worked well for me as I was asleep before the pill fully dissolved.

They give that shit like candy in rehabs to help the junkys sleep IME. Wasn't worth a fuck to me though.

It will knock you out cold, its like like a chemical lump hammer to the head.lol
just be prepared for vivid dreams, sleep paralysis and various erectile issues (if your male).
I also found that its got an awful hangover effect, felt like id been poisoned (nasty metabolites if i remember right), even worse then a polish vodka hangover. In doses used for sleep, 50mg usually, its effects as an antidepressant are negligible. as long as you arent mixing serotonergic drugs with it, you will be fine.

It puts me to sleep at 50mgs. I know it's working when I notice how heavy I feel. It can definitely have you stumbling around after taking it.

My only bad side effect is my nose becomes completely stuffed up shortly after taking it, so it's annoying going to bed as it's a bit more difficult to fall asleep when you can't breath through your nose (and having bad allergies my whole life, it's not as bad as being stuffed completely AND having a runny nose when trying to sleep). I also always wake up with an extremely dry mouth as expected.

As far as the metabolites that are produced, lots of people bring up one of its active metabolites mCPP. Just to end any speculation, at dosages that are taken for sleep, the amount of mCPP is in no way having any effect. It will most likely leave you feeling groggy and not wanting to get out of bed.

I find it to be an excellent sleep aid, and I quite enjoy the vivid/strange dreams. My favourite sedative, barring benzos/barbs.
