Traversing the road from Hydocodone to Ritalin

I have been taking off and on hydrocodone for the last 10 years.

Over the last year it became more on than off. Most days I would take 6x7.5 and it became very difficult to tell if I was taking it for pain or for some other reason.

Last week I was prescribed ritalin (Focalin) for ADHD. It feels so right. It feels like the chemical my body was missing all along.

Today I have gone cold turkey without the hydrocodone. My leg is in pain, but I can survive.

I am confused what to do for my pain...should I just live with it? Somehow I think all of this is related to my new medicine (in a good way).

Any observations and suggestions appreciated? Is going cold turkey on the hydrocodone a good idea? what is my worse case scenario?

I feel like taking just one hydrocodone...

I don't really understand your question-
If you are prescribed the Hydrocodone for pain, then you should take it as prescribed.
That goes for the Methylphenidate as well.

If you are trying to slow down with the Hydro.. I suggest trying out a taper plan (do a search).

Ritalin is not going to stop your pain (if you do have legitimate pain)..

If you're asking if you can take Hydro & Ritalin together.. the answer is yes; but don't go overboard.

I want to slow down on the hydro and was hoping the ritalin would help me taper. Just seems that when I take a hydro it is very easy to take another and then another.

Yea I would say taper is your best bet. You'll more then likely have some withdrawals from being on Hydro for that long. I know personally I could never fucking taper if i had a script. Perhaps you can give your supply to a loved one who can dispense it for you. Maybe Ritalin would mask some of the WD's for a little bit, but you're gonna feel em. If you're still worried about your pain, try looking into Kratom.

IME/O the ritalin would make the hydro taper worse... Mainly because they act as polar opposites for me... Any speedy drug while I'm feeling shit form an opiate wd not only doesn't help, but it worsens my plight. But for anyone, the ritalin should have no pain relieving properties. For me, the only drugs that considerably help an opiate taper/kick is benzo's... But benzo's would be counterproductive for your original diagnosis, the reason for the ritalin in the 1st place.

^for some the ritalin/stims can give the needed energy to keep going about the things one needs to do. also the dopamine it releases would help you to feel better in the head.

I have had very good results in using methylphenidate to deal with opiate wd-related fatigue, and have postulated that this new focalin *dextromethylphenidate* may be an even cleaner way to help out.

^Please don't bump dead threads to share your opinion on a drug. If you'd like to post a trip report in the TR forum or utilize your BL blog, that's what they are there for.
