traveling with test kit on plane, are reagants legal?

Hello all, I am from chitown where mints reign supreme. However, as festie season approaches i want to help my friends and myself know what is around. i want to test, the question is, can i fly with the reagents? Or is it consider paraphernalia?

Apparently if you're using them to test that the substance is NOT in test subject, it's legal.

Its not illegal, but you cant bring them on a plane. Its sulfuric acid, that could easily kill someone..
