Social Justice Transgender and gender identity discussion

You could also ask "why should women have to solve the problem of discrimination against trans people?" But that's a loaded question.

The bathroom is a "safe place" for men in all the wrong ways. Locker room talk wouldn't exist if we weren't so prude about seeing each other naked.

Have you had any experience with nudity?

One of the funniest moments I've had was seeing two bathrooms (one man, one for woman) at a nude beach. I just can't even begin to describe the prudishness as well as ridiculousness that radiated from that bathroom.

I think it’s biology (specifically the male sex drive), not prudishness, at play here.
rape culture, why locker room talk is a thing at all, has everything to do with fragile masculinity and nothing to do with lust or libido

so yeah, wolf is right, getting rid of male prudishness would help in a lot of ways, by helping men with being more comfortable with expressing emotions besides anger and with being more comfortable with their own bodies (or, those things would result in male prudishness disappearing; probably more correlation than causation between the 2)

I think it's because this is not TL and people are here to post seriously about stuff, by and large, if they were trying to get lols they'd post in TL.

No, I was discussing this meme and the furore it caused on Facebook.

A meme is a meme, there is always room for mood changers and use to diffuse pent up arguments anywhere.

Why be so uptight and determined to lead a conversation to dissent when that never ends well, except if dissent is what's wanted one widely to bring about the spinning of personal foes?

I see it happens here as does in TL , sad really.

There's no reason why debates can't continue in a fun yet serious way.

the occasional joke, troll, or shitpost is indeed fine here, so long as they remain only sparingly used, but this is still a forum for serious discussion and debate. rationally discussing topics that we disagree on is the whole point, not necessarily to change anyone else's mind but to broaden our own views and perspectives by hearing others' viewpoints

Today, I was in the ladies’ room, and someone who was born as a biological male walked in. This individual was completely dressed like a male, so I was surprised and thought may they’d walked into the wrong restroom. (The signage was confusing.)

It was a little different, but ultimately not a big deal. Meh.
Lol yeah right, it was 'not a big deal' to you, why don't you tell us how you really feel? ;)

If anything unisex bathrooms will clean up the sexual problems that actually do go on in mens room.

You guys really think women are going to put up with our glory holes?

Those things would be the first to get fixed.
TS/TG or unisex toilets never stopped any of the sex pigs I know or have met. This includes TS/TG sex pigs both MTF and FTM who use glory holes or have sex and hook up in unisex bathrooms.

One old queen I met in a bar would, while sipping his martini, tell anyone who would listen how glory holes simply must be in all public bathrooms so any man can get immediate sexual relief and they would not have to look at him and reject him because of his age.

In Czech and Eastern European porn they film scenes with women using glory holes, and in Northern European porn as well.

The below links are obviously NSFW, not safe for work.

This French film is about women using glory holes with a man licking their clit.

I prefer unisex bathrooms just because men are gross in bathrooms. Aim, people!
I know men and women who work or have worked as janitors. They all said how women's bathrooms were an infinite number of times nastier than men's bathrooms with piss all over the toilet seat and floor, women who would shit and not flush, and used tampons and pads on the floor or in toilets, and used diapers in toilets or on the floor.

So what happened? Were people who are nudists or on the nude beach embarrassed to walk nude, or basically nude except for wearing sandals into the public bathrooms?

Yes, at the hot springs in Japan, so it wasn’t a big deal for anyone. In the United States, nothing really. In Europe, I went topless where it was common.
If it’s not a weird situation, then I’m fine, but if it is not the norm then I’ll pass.
It wasn't a big deal for anyone that I noticed as well. My first nudist experience was also at a hot springs.

Whoops lol...

Eugene City Council candidate arrested, speaks out about incident

A Eugene City Council candidate was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of menacing with a gun and disorderly conduct.

Sean Dwyer, 33, of Eugene, was arrested Saturday afternoon by Eugene police related to an incident at a Buy2 store on West Broadway after he allegedly threw a beer on the ground during a dispute in the store and showed a handgun to bystanders outside.

Dwyer allegedly threatened people on the street while intimidating them to stay away from the store, Eugene police spokesperson Melinda McLaughlin said.

In an email on Monday, Dwyer said the incident happened after the staff at Buy2 “referred to my girlfriend as ‘him’ several times after being informed she uses female pronouns.”

Dwyer said “more details will come out in time,” but he is unsure about continuing his bid for city council.

“There have been aspects of my personal life that I had not anticipated being made public, such as the fact that I am dating a transgender woman,” he said. “For this reason I am taking some time to speak with her and my family to decide if continuing the campaign is in the best interest of our families (sic) privacy.”

According to McLaughlin, officers were called to the store in downtown Eugene at 3:22 p.m. Saturday for an unrelated report of a theft. While there, police learned Dwyer had been in a verbal altercation at the shop earlier in the day and had thrown a beer down inside the store.

There was no accusation of menacing at that time, McLaughlin said, but later, additional victims called to report Dwyer had a concealed handgun in a holster that he showed people while making threats.

“I did inform people outside the store of what just happened and advised them to shop at a store that does not discriminate against the transgender community,” Dwyer said in the email. “Transgender people face a daily struggle of being ridiculed and misgendered at best and at worst physical and sexual violence.“The incident at Buy2 is a perfect example of how transphobia is still very much alive and considered acceptable by many in the community.”

Dwyer was arrested at 4:21 p.m. Saturday on suspicion of menacing with a gun and disorderly conduct. He was booked into the Springfield Municipal Jail because the Lane County Jail was full, and he was released sometime before Monday afternoon. He has not yet been arraigned and the date of his arraignment in Lane County Circuit Court was not immediately available.

Dwyer completed filing for his chance to serve as the councilor of Ward 1 in November. He turned in his application with 36 certified signatures. Candidate Eliza Kashinsky was the only Ward 1 candidate to have more signatures, with 37.

Menacing people with a firearm is always a good way to get people to use those pronouns.

This is not so much a reflection of my own views on the subject as it is something I found to pass along:

'Santa is now seen as gender-neutral,' claims mom shamed on Facebook
'Santa is now seen as gender-neutral,' claims mom shamed on Facebook

The war on Christmas just took a bizarre turn.

A viral Facebook post caused a festive controversy on the social media platform when a mom claimed that she received backlash for not using a “gender-neutral” term for Santa Claus, sparking a heated debate.

An unamed mother from England spoke with a local news outlet, describing how she was shamed on Facebook for saying "Father Christmas" instead of a gender-neutral term. (iStock)

The story originates from an unnamed mom in Plymouth, England, who claims that she was shamed on a Facebook group after referring to Santa Claus as Father Christmas, the Plymouth Herald reports. The woman told the outlet, “Santa is now seen as gender-neutral. I was only referring to the book ‘Father Christmas’ by Raymond Briggs, but it’s left me a little confused/on edge about what we are aloud [sic] to say.”

While the original post (or the responses) have not been publicly revealed, users on Facebook were still quick to respond to the alleged shaming.

In response to a post about the story, one user replied, “Seriously! He's a guy, quite clearly a guy. I would have bitten back by calling him St Nicholas to be honest. The clue's in the name, Nicholas not Nicola.”

Another user, once again replying to a post about the story, complained, “I would love to meet these people... seriously… how long has Father Christmas been just that? Why change!!?? This gender-neutral thing can’t be done to everything!”

Yet another user joined in, posting, “Glad my kids grew up knowing Father Christmas is based on St Nick ... a man! All for personal identities and encourage it but come on! How messed up is this world we live in?”

Changing Santa to gender neutral is stupid. I agree with the second to last comment posted. It's OKAY that Santa is a man. FFS

Anyway I'm dubious about the source given it's Fox News. In my experience, there's a small group of people getting their panties in a bunch about everything. Most people don't care if other people celebrate Christmas even if they don't. There is no "war on Christmas", it's a false dilemma used to drum up outrage.
