Transferring prescriptions -refills

I would like to try a different generic of a (sched 4) medication I've been prescribed to for several years now in order to compare efficacy. The generic I've been using has become somewhat more inconsistent in effects as of late despite trying to make sure all external variables remain the same each time I take it. The problem here is that the pharmacy I use, while excellent in making sure I always get the generic I've requested, as opposed to the other, near- placebo generic that they stock also, doesn't carry nor can order the generic I'd prefer to try. I'm wondering if I could have my next refill transferred to an altogether different pharmacy that carries the particular generic I'm interested in trying. I know I can transfer a brand new prescription that hasn't been filled to an entirely different pharmacy or to a different store within the same chain, however, can subsequent refills on a scheduled medication be transferred, or must I fill all refills at the same pharmacy that handled the original script?
Thanks so much BLers, your responses are always so much appreciated!

It can be transferred. Different states may require only one refill to be then script voided or other peculariarities, but all allow it afaik.
