i find tramadol definately helps with mood a lot more than other opiods too. personally it's my favourite drug for stimulant come downs (well i mean id prefer to get floored railing some hydro or oxy, but that would just be a waste of good drugs). Tramadol itself is somewhat an SNRI and weak mu-opiod agonist, with its metabolite, O-desmethyltramadol, being a far stronger opiod and a much weaker SNRI, and with a much longer half life. personally i find that perfect for comedowns because the SNRI effects help glide you out of the stimulation not too abruptly then steadily decrease to more sedation, relaxation not to mention that it takes all the aches and pains away from an amphetamine crash, and all that with the fact that it'll last like 6-10 hours which is the roughest part of a speed comedown.
it's important to note that tramadol's effects vary greatly between people because the rate which it is metabolised into o-desmethyltramadol varies greatly depending on each person's ability to metabolise it. before i tried it, i always expected it to be weak hearing other peoples opinions of it, but i was suprised by it and found it incredibly enjoyable and long lasting, so im assuming my liver does a pretty good job of de-methylating it fast so anything i say from experience should be viewed with that in mind - subjectively i probably get weaker SNRI effects and much stronger opiod effects.
i'm mostly refering to the opiod effcts here, but another thing to add is personally i find when im on an opiate even though my mood is better, im always anti-social lol, mainly with stronger things like oxycodone and hydromorphone though and i don't take them regularly. when im pinned, if someone bothers me i tend to be an asshole to them lol. im sure it helps with anxiety in that you'll worry less about things, but i don't think opiods have much to offer in terms of social anxiety help. the SNRI effects completely change the situation with tramadol though, but if your looking for those effects to help with mood, there are probably better drugs out there that a psychiatrist would love to show you lmao.
I agree with what other people say though, if you're looking for something to help with mood, try therapy before taking drugs, i've never done it or taken SSRI's, but i've heard nothing but good things, especially compared to SSRI's even thought im sure SSRI's are better than nothing. i'm not too sure how opiods affect anxiety from personal experience, but at one point in my life i was taking percacets very often to make me not depressed and that didn't end very well lol, i feel like tolerance to mood related effects of opiods develops fastest of anything related to opiods.
Just another thing to add also - opiod withdrawl/tolerance isn't something to underestimate too particularly in comparison to withdrawl from stimulants (in a broad sense i mean like amphetamines/cocaine or SSRI's). With opiates i find you build up your dose as high as you want, but your body will ALWAYS get used to the subjective mental effects (not refering to analgesia which is why people chronicly take opiods, i mean the high from the drug, which im guessing is what's giving you the desired mental effects) and then on top of that it makes you so sick when you don't have it. In my experience with stimulants, i find you can always get something from a dose, although greatly diminishing with constant use, even when you build up a hefty tolerance to it. Plus stimulant withdrawl, after the aches and pains for dopamageric stimulants go away is mainly a mental thing, which i personally find easier to keep distracted from and pass.... like maybe you'll feel like killing yourself and wont want to leave the bed for a week, but atleast your not shitting yourself every 30 seconds going through 3 boxes of kleenex per hour wiping your nose, while you feel like you've got an alien in your gut thats trying to tear its way out AAAND want to kill yourself and not leave bed for a week.
anyway im just rambling now sorry just weighing in
