whats the story with Tramadol?

my mate just handed me a few of them and told me these will get me stoned but i never heard of them, he said they give him a similuar affect as diazepam, and i have a realy high tollerence of diazepam and i cant get anything off them anymore,

so is anybody here familuar with Tramadol?
if so id like to here about them befor i take them,

It's a wierdass opiate, gives an opiate high, generally felt to be a worse high than real opiates. It also acts on like a billion other brain systems, it's about as selective as a shotgun....

First off, please just use the search function. There are a hundred threads here on tramadol, and if you do 5 minutes of searching and reading you will find an answer to your question.
You dont need to be spoonfed an answer to such a basic question when you are capable of finding the answer on your own.

Secondly, your friend is wrong-tramadol is nothing like diazepam
Diazepam is benzodiazepine which is an anti-anxiety drug.
Tramadol is a quasi-opioid pain-killer. This makes it a lot closer to something like codeine. Most people find it to be a fairly subtle, yet enjoyable high which will make you feel at ease and perhaps a bit euphoric. Many people also find it to be slightly stimulating.

Also, as the person above me wrote, tramadol acts on a many other types of receptors in the brain. It really is bizarre that this drug has an affinity for just about every receptor type there is.-DG

and yeah i never realized how many different parts of the brain Tramadol works on. I always just thought it was a weak opioid affinity and some "anti-depressant" like effects with the whole seratonin and nonsense.. but then again i don't believe depression is a "chemical imbalance". Depression is just a state of mind.. Opiates and Bud are the two best mood lifters in the world and opiates, I would consider, to be the one and only true "Anti-depressant"

OK...but what determines your "state of mind"?....chemistry does.
And the reason that opiates and pot lift your mood is because they effect the chemistry of your brain. You can use vague terms like "state of mind", but like it or not, all of that still boils down to chemistry.-DG

so what would you recon a safe dose would be to get a decent high?
bare in mind i dont have a tollerence to opioids,
and i weigh 105kg with a boddyfat% of 21
 
i'm not so sure that it really matters what your tolerance to opiates is, as it isn't an opiate, per se (it's actually an atypical nonopioid/centrally acting analgesic that can mimic some of the properties of an opiate). i'm not sure about the tolerance aspect, though. i usually take around 120-150mgs of oxycodone and i can feel 3 tramadol. to me, it has very little recreational appeal, but is great for weaning off of stronger opiates like hydrocodone and oxycodone, if done right.

be very careful, though, as tramadol lowers your seizure threshold. it's not uncommon to hear of individuals who took 800mgs in a day and fell out in the middle of cooking dinner or grocery shopping. the safe zone is anything 400mgs and under. i recommend maybe popping two and waiting an hour or two before re-dosing...it has a pretty quick onset.
 
tramadol isnt that bad. a lot of people say it gives a shit high but I like it for withdrawls. Thats All I would take it for. dont take trams if you have no benzos and try not to drink a whole lot if any on em.

really? i have a fucking huge bottle sitting right in front of my on my desk...and its been there for over a year, it will most likeyl get thrown out before it gets consumed lol. shit doesnt do much more than take away a headache for me..if even that

IMO the only tihng its good for is helpin gout with opiate withdrawals...and it sucks for even that because you can't take enough for it to be effectiv without hitting that "danger of seizure" level.

It;s good for like after you've been withdrawing for a week already lol
 
Watch it edgewise though. I don't know how long you have been taking it. I've been taking it for years and the more I take it the more negative effects I have. I seem to get more sick than high anymore.
 
Your tolerance to other opiates doesn't play a factor with Tramadol. Its not truly an opioid so you can take just a few and get high...or not, some people hate it...even if you have got a 160mg OxyContin habit. Personally I find it so-so and when I have it I'll usually take 200mg. I figure that dose is enough to feel its effects.
 
Wait, I found that when I took Tramadol before breaking into my codeine script I had to take more than if I didn't. I think opiates DO play a role on tolerance.
 
Opiate tolerance never played a role with Tramadol from my experience. When I was on 16mg Suboxone daily for a little more than a year, I would be able to feel the effects of just four Tramadol. Same when I had my 160mg OxyContin a day habit as I mentioned before. When I started taking 4 balloons of H with the OxyContin I never tried Tramadol though so couldn't comment upon that. I believe that the other receptors that Tramadol affects may have something to do with it.

Thats just me though.
