I began taking the SSRI Zoloft a week ago, but I really want to take the few Tramadol pills I have left.

Now I know it's not the smartest idea, but seeing as the Zoloft has a half life of 26 hours, would I be ok if I just skipped my medication that particular day and took the 200mg of Tramadol? I'm on the minimum dose of Zoloft (50mg) if that matters.

Would that be enough to avoid Serotonin Syndrome?

seretonin syndrome is nothing to mess around with. like tricomb said, you're better off avoiding it. tramadol is a shitty drug anyways.

people who want to get fucked up are going to get fucked up regardless it seems. not talking to you in particular...just seems to be the way things go.

Ah yeah I'd agree with you there. There was only one answer I wanted - I had to justify it in my own head. It seems every high is worth dying over.

What's the above precaution? Skipping one day of medication? You know SSRIs build up in your system over time right? That's why they take like 6-8 weeks to take effect. So skipping a day is not a good enough precaution.

I thought it was solely related to the SSRI's half life. Oh well, I've only been taking it a week now so I should be ok.

I have been taking 100mg Zoloft daily for about 2 years now to treat my generalized anxiety disorder. I also take tramadol recreationally once for twice a week in the 400mg to 500mg range. I never had serotonin syndrome or any seizure problems. That does not mean someone else wouldn't.

Everybody is different. We really can't tell you what will happen. Some people have no side effects. Others have bad adverse reactions. Always talk to your dr about any all medications you take. Keep a list and show them it. Then ask again to make sure they are not missing something. Tramadol is a dirty, icky, drug to me. I took it one time 100mg and had a head ache for 3 solid days. I could not life my head off the pillow with out piercing pain.

Always be careful. Be safe.
