Tramadol vs. actual narcotics

I used tramadol for over 10 years, before quitting 6 weeks ago. I had a dosage of 30 to 35 pills a day, these were 50mg pills I was taking. Luckily I never had a seizure during the time I was on this drug. At the dosage I was taking I was definately feeling the euphoria and well-being that tramadol can produce, and I evidently have the body chemistry required to maxamize tramadol, plus, 30 to 35 pills a day is going to do something to you regardless!8o Even though I was at this dose for a couple of years, it really is unsustainable.

I had a plan to quit that would have began the last week of April. But on March 23rd I suffered a heart attack and that forced me off the tramadol. It wasn't easy to get to the point I'm at, but I think I probably went through the physical part while in the hospital. I was on morphine for three days, and then I was given 2 tramadol every 6 hours until I was released 4 days later. It took a lot of "comfort" drugs but currently I'm doing a lot better.

Nothing like a heart attack to "wake" you up and set you on the right path!!=D

^ Damn, dude. I was up there with you on the dosage, for about 2 years. It was fucking hardcore. I have had a few small strokes at the age of 26 now. I am sober these days, since I can't take less than like 30 of any pill I'm hooked on, lol. It's funny but I'm serious.

How old, for the person who had the 10 yr tramadol addiction?

I have done the 2000mg doses, and yes, eventually you get something, but 2000mg for me is at most, comparable to 15mg of p.o. methadone.....I may be a" poor" metab., because clinically I have seen tramadol used at 100mg to produce significant pain relief. In a a peri-post operative setting tramadol is almost never used, I've written scripts for the drug maybe a couple dozen times at dose. As studpid as it may sound from a abuse perspective, I write alot of scripts for percocet, ms-cont or oral morphine, and trans-d fentanyl.....

^^Was this a single dose of 2000mg? Did Tramadol produce any sort of analgesia or euphoria for you below the 2000mg mark?

I usually hard to start around 500mg to get going, then it went up from there throughout the day. I would often stay up for 3-4 days on it like it was fucking speed.

Tramadol

I take 20-30 mg of hydro daily. About a year ago, I halved my dosage and added about 200 mg of tramadol. Worked great, 3 weeks later when I ran out I couldn't stay awake, felt like crap all day and figured it had to be the ultram. So in a couple days when I felt better I tried it again for 2 weeks - the withdrawal isn't as painful as opiates, but it's definitely not fun or easy.

Dude it produced quite a bit of stimulation for me as well. And it's such a chill type of speedy feeling - totally anxiety free (for me at least).

well

i got some o-desmethyltramadol online and spent the evening binging (snorting) on it- it was mildly stimulating and gave me big fat rushy nods. went to bed with insane itches and had a rough sleep. when i woke up the next day the opiate effect was gone but the anxiety and speedy rush almost like ethcathinone and its adrenaline edge was there and i was buzzing in the worst possible way.

it felt like when the good effects of speed wear off and you are left with the shitty after stimulation and brain racing/paranoia.

long story short i felt for much of the day like my brain was boiling with heat and that it was frying and i have had that before from tramadol (premeptive of a seizure-dunno?) ,tho nowhere near as strong, so went to me friends to pick up a half a zopiclone and the brain pain subsided.

i have never felt that close to my brain expoding even on high dose tramadol. this was in a very different league.

watch out for o desmetyltramadol, felt very toxic after the opiate effects wore off. very toxic indeed to my mind and my aching body (also i used poppy pods to alleviate the opiate withdrawl but the body battered by speeding feeling was still there in abundence.)

^^ That definitely sounds like an unpleasant experience. I never experienced that, but I never experimented with straight o-desmetyltramadol. I certainly don't intend to either :)

2000mg was yes, one single dose oral. I have also tried many variations from 300-1500mg single doses. None were spectacular, although, prior to heavy opioid use, I did take a single 1200mg dose that produced a long lasting, hypnotic like effect, though the degree of hypnosis was odd and consisted of fever-like dreams.

When I administer 200mg of pure o-desmethyltramadol intravenously, it had a powerful effect (inducing full narcosis, with little apparent monoaminergic activity). It felt distinctly different from high oral doses of tramadol, felt like meperidine IV, but did not have the same "rush". It actually felt rather pure and MOR-specific, with a definite fentanyl like element, but a little "warmer-bodied". I sound like some sonoma county wine-snob......

well, at least you are snobbing about the effect and not the taste :D ...

My experience with opiates is not too great but I can easily say oxycodone > fentanyl > tramadol

The fever-like dreams is something I always had with tramadol.. Definitely not an opioid for the night.

When my opiate tolerance was very high, going from 2mg of hydromorphone IV every two hours for a week (maybe 3 hours at night, as I would only take naps), to tramadol was a bit dissapointing, but was pleasurable for a few days. Sadly after that I had to keep upping my dose (over a gram. I did take xanax with high doses) and it was never quite there.

I took 300mg of tramadol er (I think the pharmacy misinterpreted the called in script, and should have gave me 50mg irs. My doc doesn't know that they don't make 100mg tramadol IRs for humans in the US, or that what I've read, and asked for 100mg tramadols) that I chewed up, and am feeling pretty great. Took some gabapentin early as well, which should add some chillness to it.

With a lower opiate tolerance (30-40mg of oxy to feel good/close to nod) tramadol was as good as heroin. Tramadols duration also is a plus in comparison to other opiates/opioids I've done. 400mg of tramadol with that tolerance (200 still was a solid dose) can make me nod, but still allow me to focus on a task if need be.

i seized on 250mgs so i only use 50-100mgs with klonopin and other opiates... but by itself sometimes 100mg with lyrica and that is great, speedy and euphoric

Some physicians simply prefer to prescribe the drug due to the fact that is (in most states) an 'Rx only' compound said:
Just wondering, in which states is Tramadol not Rx only. When I researched it appeared that all states reqired a prescription, even though it is unscheduled in most states.

I am not am expert in medico-legal affairs, but I know that in California, the drug is Rx only, and technically speaking, does not legally require a "physical" (in person) consult, and can be obtained easily and legally via the internet. In CA, carisoprodol is also not considered a controlled substance, but I am rather certain than in New York and a number of other states, carisoprodol, is a controlled substance. The problem with the over-prescription of tramadol, an opioid that is not widely controlled, is its dirty interaction witn serotonergic drugs. In my area, most patients (particularly females) are on some SSRI, etc........A handful of tramadol and a handful of zoloft can (and does) result in a nasty, painful and often fatal hypertensive crisis........

tramadol is a narcotic...and its alright, a little better when potentiated with grapefruit juice.. the effects are very long lasting which is something i like, even though i had a seizure from this shit lmfao...

I heavily doubt it's potentiated by grapefruit juice as it's a pro-drug which is broken down into the much more potent O-Desmethyltramadol once reaching the liver.
