Tramadol mixed with Other Opiates

I've been taking 600-900mg of tramadol a day for an injured arm. I recently got some vicodin and i was thinking about taking 75mg.

Would there be n e negative reactions or should i be farely ok?

Any help is welcome thank for your post in advance.

Tramadol is a weak, partial mu-opioid agonist. So it has the potential to increase the narcotic effects of other opiates/opioids.. When mixing the two, it'd be my advice to take around half of your typical opioid dose until you see how you react to the combination. As i'm sure you know, tramadol has a wide range of neurological action. One should exercize extreme caution when mixing it w/ other drugs.

Some painkillers like meperdine (demerol) also have additional, non-opioidergic pharmacological action that may have a cumulative effect on the CNS if combined with tramadol.. i.e.- seizures, increased anticholingeric effect, etc. I'm not aware of hydrocodone having any generalized pharmacology though; so you should be ok. Just start out low and work your way up.

75mg is just enough to get a small buzz for me.but ill most likely be taking 3 soma with it. i know that soma reduces the risks of seizure and im not seizure prone at all.

I just want to feel nice later and i think im just gonna take that 75mg and see how it turns out.

Did u say that tramadol might potentiate the affects of the hydrocodone?

It's text, he doesn't have to repeat himself. Just read it over again.

You might want to consider lowering your daily tramadol dose. 600-900mg per day is quite a bit.. As you may or may not know, you aren't supposed to exceed 400mg in 24 hours due to the risk of seizures.

Anyway, I do think that tramadol is a good potentiator for pretty much any other opiate/opioid. The thing is that the tramadol will be potentiated as well, and if you're taking a dangerous dose to begin with, the hydrocodone could put you over the edge. I recommend you take hydrocodone and a low dose of tramadol. 200mg should be plenty.

I assume you have at least a moderate opiate tolerance?

Generally, carisoprodol does lower the seizure threshold due to its similar pharmacology to that of the benzodiazepines... but in high doses it has been known to induce tonic-clonic seizures. And tramadol itself can also induce seizures in people who aren't epileptic. Myself, i used 300 mg 3 - 4x daily in combination w/ my daily buprenorphine dose and experienced no seizures, but thats just me.

If you're planning on mixing all these substances, you should use at the most HALF of your usual dose for all of them.

Listen, slob and a half. You don't have to be seizure prone to have a seizure.

You tell your doctor to lower your dosage. You be safe and heed to Sonic and AlphaOdure's advice.

They know about an enormous amount of information reguarding this class of drugs. I know about being a sloppy sally on a satarday evenang.

We can't judge that. How old, weight, shoe size, tolerance level, smoke crack or not, AIDS/HIV, Hepatitis, Diabetes?

Then we can tell you.

im 6'5 375 18 years old shoe size 17 80mg opiate tolerence threshold no crack no aids hepatitis or diabetes

I'd say that this little man is properly fitted to take 5mg of hydrocodone, whilst waiting to feel effects, then dose himself as he sees fit in increments of 5!

Be safe! Harm reduction rep%

(I'd say take half of the available to make sure you're cool. I don't want you getting hurt just incase. Half now, half in 35 minutes, only if you're good.)

Im really reluctant to start a new post on this, but nobody seems to know whether tramadol potentiates or not ~ everyone in this thread seems to think so, yet in others they say just the opposite! WTF?

I don't know about potentiate; it may have a synergistic effect if you like it. It does have mu-receptor properties, but I'd say most opioids are a lot better at that then tramadol or it's metabolite M1.

ur gonna use cwe b4 taking th vics right?

I don't know who you're talking to, but given the age of this thread I'd say that's a kinda pointless question now.

wow i can't believe you're able to take that much tramadol without having a seizure.... i had a seizure at 500 mg. then again i'm a relatively small female.
but i have taken 100 mg of tramadol with 10 mg of oxycodone before and didn't have a problem, just felt a lot more euphoric from the oxy. tramadol is mostly just a crap opiate in my opinion.
