So the FDA are dumb fuckers that I've always hated and now I guess they made Tramadol a controlled substance so I can't even get anymore scripts for it from the doctor even though I had one more refill left. I have a herniated disc, scoliosis and arthritis and I take Tramadol, Baclofen I have and Naproxen I have but I don't take those because they don't do shit for my pain except Tramadol. And I understand that it can be misused but how else do I explain it to my doctor. I told him that I only take it once every 2 weeks so what's the problem? Mods you can move this to another section if it's not in the right section.. I just wanted to vent and see what your guys or gal's opinion is on this and what you think I should do because I seriously don't take pain meds that often and the only ones that I have that work is the Tramadol.. I don't have anything else but that! I've had no luck with doctors. I don't know how other people score morphine, norcos, vidocinds, percs, etc.. I've never had luck and it's not like I look like a fucking junkie or talk like one. I'm just a 28 year old with a lot of problems.. is it my age? Is it because I look young that they automatically presume he's going to misuse the medication? WTF is it and why is it so damn hard to help a mother fucker out with meds?

You could check into a doctor who specializes in pain management. With documentation of your medical issues, they would be able to prescribe pain meds. You would probably need x-rays, MRI's and your previous doctor's notes and you shouldn't have a problem.

So I don't have to be stuck with my primary doctor anymore because he's not helping me at all! I'll look into a doctor that specializes in pain management and make an appointment to have X-rays done as well as MRI's.. thank you! I just get so frustrated because I don't take the Tramadol that often so I don't see why it's such a problem especially because tramadol is the only thing that's been helping me with pain you know? I'm not asking to be on morphine or anything stronger.. just something as simple as Tramadol! But I'll look into a doctor that specializes in pain management! Hopefully that will help!

Actually I am surprised it took the DEA this long to schedule tramadol. Tramadol can be a very addictive drug and there were a large number of reports by the early 2000's that this was a medication that caused drug seeking behavior. Tramadol had been on the DEA's list of "Drugs of Concern" for several years before it was scheduled. Just lucky it was not scheduled as a C2 drug!

I can understand, even if I don't agree...but the DEA didn't call up and ask me my opinion, the scheduling of hydrocodone to C2 status. I think the diversion of this drug, along with oxycodone and other prescription drugs, is playing a big part in this. The deaths resulting from overdoses of these drugs, especially teens, certainly has not helped either.

So whether we like it or not, agree with it or not, I don't think it matters. This is the DEA we are speaking about and the greater part of public opinion is in their favor. And let's face it...It is much easier to intimidate doctors than criminals.

Just my opinion of course.

Your doctor can still call, phone, fax or electronically prescribe tramadol to your pharmacy. Problem is you are now limited to 5 refills in a 6 month time period. I imagine the doctor is aware of this but trying to help just in case he doesnt.

I believe drugs should be legal, but I was so pissed that Tramadol was pushed on people as a non addictive drug . That was such horse shit and kicking that mother fucking pill habbit was so hard... Dude I remember losing my mind and crying/ being suicidal. Tramadol, for people who LIKE it and it works on/for, is HELLA addictive ...and I too am surprised it took THIS long for it to make this level.

I agree I think all drugs should be legal lol as long as you have will power and use drugs safely it should be all good lol just my opinion though. You can't speak for everybody else and there is always room for addiction which is the main problem. I just don't take any drugs anymore and all I would want is to be able to be prescribed something that actually works for pain you know what I mean? Naproxen and Baclofen don't work as well as the Tramadol

Baclofen is not for pain. It is a cns muscle relaxer, and a great spasticity med. I am prescribed Baclofen for spasticity that resulted from a spinal cord stroke and it works really well in helping me to walk and put one foot in front of the other without it having a mind of its own and going in some other direction than the one I have in mind. But does nothing for pain for me.

Oh believe me, if you want your trammies I'm saying you should have your trammies , I was just ranting on how misinformed patients and drs were and still are about this stuff.

Yeah it does nothing for pain and I barely use it. I use it when I need to relax every once in a while.. shit if I could have it my way I'd just stock up on some nubain and take it once every week or once every two weeks and call it a day lol

There were some changes in my area when we reached the start date for tramadol to become C-IV. One pharmacy chain had signs up that you'd need to get new scripts, they wouldn't do refills for scripts written before the start date, etc. The chain I use had no problem refilling it. It can be called in, but not done electronically here. *shrug* I see my pain doc in 3 days so it should be ok.

Some PCPs just don't want to deal with controlled meds, especially as an on-going thing. They'd rather punt ya to a pain doc. Maybe they just don't want the paperwork and DEA hassles.
And... I'm kinda like edgewise... I'm surprised they waited this long on scheduling tramadol.
