Tramadol in a drug test?

I heard that tramadol (ultram) doesn't show up in a regular pee drug test....something about how it metabolizes into morphine or something..is this true?

tramadol does not metabolize into morphine, it turns into o desmethytramadol or M1, it also effects serotonin and norepinephrine, I don't believe it shows up in a panel test because most drug tests don't look for M1 or tramadol.

What about the fact that I take over 600mg a day of that stuff? Would it show up then or you're saying it just doesn't show up?

It won't show up unless they are specifically looking for it.

600 mgs of tramadol is dangerous, BTW.

I figured it was, I can take 5 or 6 of the 50mg pills and be good for the rest of the day. Whereas in the case of a hydrocodone, it only lasts for a couple of hours for me. Separated disk too close to my spine to operate....I actually like these better than oxy's...I know, I know, the oxy's make you "feel" much better, but I really am looking for long term here.

Doesn't show up on drug tests unless the test is advanced and it is searched for specifically.

Doses above "400mg" are dangerous due to risk of seizures, not overdose.
