Tramadol + Gabapentin (Very Euphoric)

I've been taking Tram. for a few days. I find that it gives me a weak opiod type high very similar to a low low dose of vicodin or percocet. With Tramadol being a SSRI, I still have not really felt "happier" or maybe I do I just haven't noticed it? lol .

Anyways, before I started taking Tramadol a few days ago, I've been taking Gabapentin for 3 years around the 1200mg dose (the less you take the less of the drug gets absorbed so people taking 4grams+ of gabapentin is a waste of the drug fyi).

I decided to mix the two today..... I took 150mg of Tram and 900mg of Gabapentin.

Ive read reports on here that Gabapentin will take away any feeling that tramadol will give you....Not true, well atleast if you wait for the tram to kick in before taking the gaba like I did.

The outcome of mixing the two: Very euphoric. The gabapentin made the tramadol euphoric but not in a opiate type way, just a happy talkative type way, really hard to explain, but there is def some opiate simularities mixed in with the euphoria. I'm thinking that gabapentin increases the SSRI properties that tramadol has...Even though I'm not sure how that would be possible even though Gabapentin is a mood stabalizer/anti-seziure medication....

has anybody else tried this combo?

I'm prescribed 240 tramadols per month, 90 flexorils, 60 Wellbutrin SRs, and 60 gabapentins. I don't get any nice feelings from any of the meds I take, and I take each of those the second I wake up lol. I'm in quite a bit of pain though, so that could have something to do with that.

this studies shows that taken concomitantly with morphine for chronic pain it increases overall analgesia. although not morphine it definitely improves the analgesia i get from my oxycodone and tramadol.

i've read a few times within bl that it mitigates certain opioids' metabolism but never anything conclusive with the statement. can someone enlighten me with facts?

I take neurontin with my nucynta and dont notice any difference than when I didnt take the neurontin with it and the nucynta is just a jacked up version of your tramadol. Thats just me tho. Obviously different people have different reactions to things. The only time I got any effect from neurontin was on the first day of using it, it made me extremely tired. After that day I was good. I also started at a dose of 900mg/dose. I too am in alot of pain as well, all the time, so maybe thats why I dont get as much enjoyment from these drugs. Dunno tho.

Interesting study :) I don't know about gabapentin mitigating opioid metabolism, it's not something I've heard before, but I would be interested to hear about it too.. found this while looking into it, about gabapentin preventing and reversing morphine tolerance. Unfortunately the link to the study doesn't work, so i don't know if it is because pain patients don't need to use as much morphine, or through some other mechanism.. hopefully the latter but I couldn't exclude the former without having a look at the studies in question ;)

Unfortunately there are a lack of studies investigating the effect of gabapentin on opioid euphoria, haha..

I'm jealous....

Don't be lol...

I might get that many tramadols, but it feels like I need that many Vicodin's to alleviate my pain.

When I used to just use drugs for their recreational purposes...I remember wishing that I had a constant Rx for pain-killers...be careful what you wish for, because you may get it...

I developed a dependency to Tramadol really rapidly. The withdrawal CT is horrific. I dont even get a buzz out of them anymore.
If I want a high and have nothing else Im prone to caning them somewhat which isnt v sensible..

On the whole wish I'd never started using them.

Love my lyrica though :)
