Okay, so how does Tram compare with Vicodin. I have been taking 15 mg of Vicodin a day for a fractured hand. My hands better but I still continued w/ Vic because I like the feeling.

Heres my dilema, I just arrived in Thailand and I accidentaly forgot my prescription at home.

One good thing, every pharmacy on Sukhumvit sells Tramadol OTC. Please don't lecture me about Thai police, I know the situation. I was just wondering how much tramadol would equal 15 mg Vicodin.

I really need help, I didn't think I would WD from such small dose of Vic, and was only taking it for one month.. but on the flight to Tokoyo I started having the most horrible sweat and diarrhea. I seriously thought I was going to shit my pants a couple times.

Will this tramadol stuff ward off WD completely, and make me feel good like vicodin.. I would hate to have miserable trip, or end up having to score some china white and end up in bangkok hilton.

Hoping this stuff works, please tell me how much I need to take. I wont have seizure so I can take more because I have clonopin which is a seizure medication.

Id say start with 100-150 mgs as a breakthrough dose and then maintain after that but dont exceed 400 mg in a 24 hour span. Thats the recommended highest amount in a 24 hour period anyway.

Also, measuring tramadol vs vicodin is really apples and oranges. Unless your body produces a somewhat copius amount of a specific metabolizing agent, you wont really "feel" the tramadol like you would "feel" from vicodin. I fail to recall what the agent was tho. Sorry!

I had been taking tramadol and vicodin together on a regular basis just a short while ago :)
Sorry about your hand dude.

Okay, I'm good with the no high feeling for now. I don't think my body metabolize it too get the high feeling anyways, took it before with no results. But I just want to feel normal. Would 100-150 do the trick? Like completely remove the WD.. I am really desperate right now, this is supposed to be a vacation and i'm feeling like shit. Wow, I didn't know about not exceeding 150 in 24 period. I actually just popped six 100mg out of desperation about 10 min ago, so far nothing, but crossing my finger because I want to go out tonight. BOOM BOOM LOL

Dont think it will do very much for your w/d's. But at least you will have some sort of pain releif thats a bit better than having just regular tylenol or less. And its dont exceed 400 mg in a 24 hour span is what is recommended and is actually a pretty good rule to go by. I have done 700 mg in 24 hours and 500 mg in one dose and have been fine but that doesn't mean something bad would happen. Dont do it, really.

Use 100-150 mg as the first dose and then every 6-8 hours you can dose as needed. Ideally you could do 4x100 mg doses every 6 hours if you want and be just fine. Feel better dude.

Yeah, I would of just stayed away from tramadol. I used it for w/d's and ended up taking it just to be taking it and it barely helped. I ended up going from my starting dosage of 150mgs all the way up to 800mg... I wasn't even getting high from it. I ended up seizing one day... It was stupid of me and I wish I could of just went back and never taken it at all.

Don't take more than 400mgs in a day and don't take any if you're on an ssri. I was and I sure regret my decision but at the time I didn't care.

Doesn't it have some Mu-Opiod activity. I was pretty sure it did do something for WD, I mean not for a herion or oxy hbut maybe a bit but a measly 15 vic habit? I have a friend who actually prefers tram over vic as crazy as that sounds.

My hands doing better now so I don't need it much for the pain. Need it so I can go out to the bar tonight without feeling like crapola, and the day after, and the day after. Hope I didn't waste my BAHT on Tramadol.. Thailand is very inexpensive but I paid ALOT for these 3 blister packs. Probably smelled newby on me and took me for my baht.

It does help somewhat/sometimes and it should help someone who's only been using 15mgs of vics but even then I think the person could go cold turkey and be fine. Dang I even took more than 15mgs my first time with vicodin. I miss those days.... Now vicodin isn't even an option.

Would Katrom work better than tramadol for vicodin withdrawal? Just a question. Also how long will these withdrawals last I am only on vacation for short time. Great time to start WD. Been long time since I gone through WD but that was methadone, and it was hell on earth and lasted forever longer than I will be in thailand, 15mg of vicoden cant be that bad, I hope. Atleast the tramadol stopped the dihaera.

I guess I could see thai doctor but I dont want to waiste my time and money because I believe they are very strict about opiates. No vics, perc, oxys, nothing but good old Morphine that is like one of the only drugs that they wont sell to you without a prescription unfortunaly, I guess I could go to cambodia if things get real bad. They have oxycodone, morphine, codiene, DHC. But, would have to stay there, crossing the border with goodies I don't think would be too smart. But, god I want this vacation to go good.

Yeah I am just going to go to thai doctor, land ask for oramorph if he says no I walk out and am out of like *snip NO PRICES* But, I do have proof that I was in a accident, so hopefully he/she wont be too dick headish. I really do think I am going to stay for a while, other than the strick drug policies (except for pharmacuticals) its a pretty awesome place. I can see why they call it the land of smiles, everyone is really friendly unlike detroit. <snip>

15mg isn't a super tolerance or anything, but even the mildest of withdrawals are intensely uncomfortable. Tramadol would do the trick just fine, but kratom would work too.

Tramadol is probably your best bet since it is OTC and all, 150-200mg or so should take care of any withdrawal related issues you may have. If you need more that is okay, just work your way up slowly, space the dosages out and stay well under 400mg.

The beautiful thing about tramadol is its wonderfully long half-life; quite pleasant when waist-deep in hell. Space out the dosages for best results, it's always best to split a dose up of tramadol to be taken in intervals. I wouldn't waste my time or money going to a doctor when tramadol is OTC, though.

@xstayfadedx: Sounds like you were either using it incorrectly, or you are a poor metabolizer. Just a guess though.

Moved to BDD.

Word. How you metabolize this drug means everything with what you get out of it. Not enough O-Desmethyltramadol, all you feel is the weak opioid and stimulant effects of tramadol, and this drug is "useless." Enough O-Des, then this drug suddenly becomes just as good, even better, than hydrocodone.

^actually no. most people are medium metabolizers; only a slim portion is 2D6 deficient.

Let us keep in mind the OP's question involves whether or not tramadol will be effective for hydrocodone withdrawals, not which drug is better. ;p

OP, I edited your title for clarification and easier searching in the future.
