Tramadol, Demerol or codeine for W/D

Thanks for the information & sorry to hear about your problems after the surgery. I get paranoid when my doctor talks about possible surgery, I really dont wanna have one & dont wanna go threw the severe pain. I rather go to pain management for the rest of my life but thats just me.

I've talked to a lot of people who have had fusion, most everyone I talked to said that in the long run it really helped them. If I were you though and a doctor told you that you may need fusion I would at least get a second opinion just to make sure. In my case my vertebra was fractured and I had no choice, it was either fusion or risk the chance of Paralysis.

Back on topic here, I would like to thank everyone for all the info you have provided. I had no idea Demerol could be that bad for you. I stopped using the Demerol and changed to codeine and Tramadol. Only problem is I ran our of the codeine quick and the Tramadol does nothing for my pain and only slightly takes the edge off the cravings/withdrawals. I'll get my refill tomorrow morning though so I can easily manage till then on the Tramadol

^ it's substantially different - what you're referring to is physical dependence. Proper medication usage falls drastically short of accepted definitions of addiction because the use doesn't eat up all your time, interfere with your life, inhibit you socially, academically, professionally, etc.
Yea I guess that's true - You don't have the same mentality that one would if it were an Opiate or another substance with the same mentality-altering / consuming behaviour.
But you still become dependant on them to function in a way that you find comfortable.

Addiction and Dependence have a very, very fine and blurred line between them... It's an interesting subject for discussion.
