Tramadol as a stimulant

i think the problem is either a) the person has huge opiate tolerance, (usually something upwards of 100mg a day of oxy) or b) they take too much, ive found by dosing 2 then 2 more an hour later , if need be a 3rd dose of 2 an hour later, for a total of 200-300mg i have quite a nice buzz, starts off kinda speedy like ritalin, then settles into a nice opiate buzz a couple of hours later, and that opiate buzz usually last 6 plus hours, i love tram especial with a klonopin or 2, i will actuall nod off and i got a decent oxy tolerance

Shit, the stimulant effect is like a bonus for me, since I actually take it for pain. It is my 2nd favorite next to oxycodone. Am I a weirdo?

BUT...if I had anyone to have sex with in the first place, I would take tramadol first, and go for possibly hours, depending on dose. I might even have to just give up.

Recently I've stopped smoking pot very often, and when I would quit tramadol, the w/ds would be horrible for over a week. This week I stopped taking it again, and kept smoking. Haven't really had any significant withdrawl. The depression is what kills me.

Yes Tramadol is the perfect work drug for me. But even with its stimulating properties, it is still strangely nod-inducing for me... I would need to drink a bit of tea to augment it for work.

Just to note, I like Tramadol more than I like Oxycodone. Yes, I'm one of those people.

Dude, I completely understand. I don't even know, I might be there with you. I don't do oxycodone very often anymore, but I'll do tramadol anytime its around. I get nods too, but then insomnia after. Funny thing is the insomnia never bothers me because I'm just in such a good mood.

I will seriously want to murder that person in their sleep...Tramadol is nearly as good as sex for me and usually a lot less complicated, please don't take away my artificial happiness!!

Damn i mean i love some opiates especially hydromorphone but even thats not as good as sex for me. No drug compares to sex for me really. I don't think tramadol is a controlled substance in canada at all but i wouldnt doubt but it will be in a few years. The thing is just about every opiate is treated the same under the scheduling because codeine is in the same scheduling as fentanyl. Granted doctors will give out codeine long before they will give out fentanyl naturally.

I have some tramadol lying around i might try it with my MScontin today see if that works out ok. I doubt id be able to do without the MScontin for a day and just take tramadol instead but that would be nice because i could save a few pills.

I took a shit load last night and am still wide awake. I guess it's the norepinephrine action which is responsible as nor is what most antidepressant pain killers reuptake like Cymbalta etc. I would say that Tramadol have a stronger effect on norepinephrine reuptake compared to serotonin.

I find the nods to be crazy off Tramadol and wake up feeling very euphoric. Not so much now but back when I first started taking them=bliss.

TWILIGHT- Congrats on the 1000 posts. Peace

Tramadol and MSContin...mmm...sounds delicious...

I got the extended release tramadol so that stuff will last 24 hours. Too bad im on wellbutrin but seing as i am on a low dose of 150mg's and im on 3 different anti-convulsants (clonazepam, lamotrigine and gabapentin) im thinking i should be safe.

I have anxiety, bipolar disorder and trigeminal neuralgia. The clonazepam helps the anxiety, the lamotrigine helps the bipolar disorder and the gabapentin helps the trigeminal neuralgia. Actually all 3 of them help trigeminal neuralgia to some extent but im scripted gabapentin for that purpose.

I once took about 600mg's of demerol in a day and those drugs saved my ass from having a grand mal seizure. I was taking demerol for a week which is insane and had been taking doses over the 400mg a day limit. Your not even supposed to take the stuff for longer then 3 days because it builds up and becomes toxic. Even more then it already is 8) .

^I can't answer for PA but a friend of mine is on a similar cocktail (including gabapentin, clonazepam and lamotrigine) and he takes them for psychiatric purposes. He takes the neurontin and lamictal for mood stabilization and the klonopin for anxiety. Anticonvulsants are gaining a lot of popularity off-label for anxiety, depression and other psychological conditions (of course benzos are anticonvulsants and have been used for this purpose for decades, but I mean other AC's, mainly gabapentin, pregabalin, lamotrigine, and others that are commonly used for pain and epilepsy).

Gabapentin never did anything to help my bipolar at all. Actually on it's own im pretty sure it might have made me more depressed. My former shrink who im long rid of thank god was a big fan of gabapentin as a mood stabilizer so she took me off valproate and seroquel and just left me on gabapentin. To say i crashed and burned would be a understatement :( .

Lamictal works much better then valproate for me as a mood stabilizer as well since it's a actual mood stabilizer instead of just a anti-manic agent.

^ I also took gabapentin for a while for nerve pain and it made me more depressed as well. When I switched to lyrica it was more effective for nerve pain for me and didn't exacerbate my depression at all. Lyrica seems to have a lot of potential in many arenas... initially I assumed it was just another way for Pfizer to rip off an unsuspecting public with an almost-the-same-drug-with-a-brand-new-patent scam.

PA, have you tried lyrica in place of the gabapentin? If not, it may be something worth looking into. It was effective for me at a lower dose than neurontin (not just mg for mg, but relatively speaking) with far fewer side effects (mainly sedation and depression).

Sorry to steer the thread off course a bit, OP

Anyone tried topamax for anxiety mainly social phobia. Some studies prove it's efficiency and while I'm not prescribed it I ordered some 25 mg tablets. I have yet to try them> want to kick my codeine habit first. I'm also interested in the weight loss.
