Tramadol as a MAT drug

So I have always felt tramadol would be a much better MAT drug as it tickles the opioid receptors gently and also reuptakes serotonin and norepinephrine all of which would help greatly. I think it'd be far more beneficial as opposed to subs or methadone as the withdrawl process from tramadol itself can be mitigated fairly easy and the overall withdrawals process is days compared to months with the other two available options. Just curious what yalls opinion would be. I understand it won't be good for all especially those at risk for seizures but for the majority I think it would be super helpful more so than the other options

I don't know. Tramadol is a slippery slope too, and for me, horrible WD on Par with 120mg ir roxi-150mg binge..but worse because oxy leaves system quicker, and Tramadol or the SNRI in it, causes the worst psychological bs ever when titrating down, not to mention crippling physical withdrawal.

I guess depends on dose and length/frequency of use. And I am sure if someone can get down to 100 or 50mg of tramadol, it should be fairly easy, but I'd rather have hydrocodone to take for a week then taper..

But as far as subs and methadone go. Yes definitely a better option just to kick the Trams. Or else your in for another few years or months of some sort of maintenance hell.

I think Tramadol is probably not a great choice just because of the relatively low dose cutoff needed to protect against the potential for seizures. At only 300mg Tramadol needed to greatly lower the seizure threshold, this would mean a lot of your everyday Opioid users with relatively high tolerances would not be able to get the relief that they need from this stuff. It´s my understanding that it is equipotent to Codeine.

That would mean it´s only good for equating to 30mg Morphine or so, which is pretty insignificant. I´m not saying there is no value in it. I just know the kinds of Opioid users we have here in New England couldn´t possibly be touched by Tramadol.

Back when I first stared doing opiates when I was 11 tramadol was my first and I loved it, still do. It's not the strongest but boy does it last all day, I'd wake up take 200mg and be golden till late at night and then I'd ocassionally take another 100mg. I don't think it's all that euphoric nowadays like I use to which made me think it'd be a good MAT drug for some. I never had an issue keeping everything together while I was soley on it, didn't run into trouble until I got into dope but I digress.

I didn't have a crazy wd from tramadol ever, it sucked and there was a bit of an odd manic/disassociated vibe to the whole withdrawl VS say oxy or dope but it was always manageable I'd always be stoke cold sober first 2-3 days and then I'd take a pregablin or 7 lol and I'd be good from there on out, maybe dosing pregabs the next day as well but after that totally good and manageable
