So, I want to know, what do you guys think of Tramadol? I'm really quite confused by it. One of my best friends always has TONS of it 'cause she needs it for Chronic Pain (she's in the later stages of Chronic Kidney Failure). Since Benzos (mostly Xanax) are the only thing that helps the nausea she also constantly experiences, I give her as much of my Xanax as I can & she on occasion has just given me tons of Tramadol in exchange for it. I've heard some people say that they thought Tramadol was pretty lame & worthless, but I've heard MUCH more people say they get high -- or at the very least experience very definite effects -- from taking as little as 50mg or 100mg. Yet, I can take 250mg within a few hour period of time, & feel at best a VERY small effect from it.
Has anybody else had similar experiences with Tramadol, or would know possible reasons why it wouldn't really effect me at all [I've taken it for pain, too, & it doesn't even work at all for me at killing pain], or anything like that? Thanks :)

I have the same experience with Trammies that you do. I have them, but they don't do anything for me and I don't know why.

Yeah, Tramadol can be pretty hit or miss. Some people love it, and others hate it/get no effect from it. It doesn't seem like there is much middle ground with Tramadol. The first time I ever took it I was pretty young, and remember getting a very nice high from it. Fast forward six years to the present, and me being on Methadone, Tramadol has absolutely not effect on me.

I think it's good in the 500mg+ range. But then i'd always combine it with an anti-seizure medication such as valium at 10-15mg. Don't drink on it, i once made this mistake and had a horrible opiate/alcohol vomitting session for the next 24 hours.

try not eating anything for a few hours, take 200mg, then 40ish minutes later eat some warm oatmeal or something like that. That always helped them kick in for me. It's a bit hit or miss even in people it does work for, sometimes I would feel pretty good other times very little. I like it more than hydrocodone though, and I don't even need that much(tramadol) to feel it. Adding extra doesn't seem to do lots though.

tramadol is hit or miss if you have alot laying aro-und i would take 250-300mg with say double your normal dose of xanax and maybee you will get a synergy of some sort otherwise it sounds like your one of those unlucky few who gets no effects from it .....have you takein other pain meds that could cause your tolerance to rise? somone who takes oxy/morphine/oxymorph etc etc would have a hard time getting high on trammys

If you are at all used to any Opioid (full agonist) such as Codeine or Hydrocodone, do not expect similar results from the Tramadol. It is true, many get little to no effect from it, though it seems most could take it or leave it. I am among the latter, in that I have taken the maximum reasonably safe dose of 300-400mg, and gotten marginal results from it, in that I felt better than I did before I took it, but certainly was not high. In combination with other Opioids, it seems to provide a little boost, but again, nothing special. I felt like it did more for my mood than anything else, which I suspect is a result of its effects on Serotonin and Norepinephrine.

Tramadol is very unique, and I think it is great for people who lack tolerance to Opiates, but not so great for anyone who has even the slightest experience with taking painkillers. Honestly, I think it would be a better antidepressant than painkiller, due to its unique pharmacology and relatively weak analgesic properties. Tramadol is something like 1/10 the analgesic potency of Codeine. Weak sauce.

I've taken 200mg of tramadol and all it does is make me feel sleepy. I'v combined it with 60mg of DF118 and it just had the additional effect of making me feel nauseous 6 hours later, but no good effects. I have also taken a deal of oral morphine and all it does is make me sleepy. Maybe its because I don't respond well to opiates.

im on suboxone and i also have a script of tramadol.. some people say they mix nicely and it's quite euphoric but i find it just makes me tired.. if i take it alone (w/o suboxone) then i wont go into w/d's but i certainly dont get high on it, no matter the dose.

and i only take 1-3mg sub a day.

That's interesting because I, and most others I believe, find Tramadol to be somewhat stimulating, especially for an Opioid.

DF118's are a great formulation IMO: 30mg DHC with no other actives! I don't understand why these aren't prescribed in the US. Even though Dihydrocodeine is rather mild in potency, I loved the way a solid dose of those made me feel. I wish those were around more.:(

for some reason, i LOVE tramadol, i had a prescription of a couple months and i ended up taking around 7 a day every day for a month because it felt so good for me. idk most people i know hate it, but i love it, it's a really unexplainable feeling you get from it and it comes in waves. I also like weird drugs though like DXM so that might explain why i enjoy it. lol

my friends say they get fucked up off tramadol, but it does nothing for me. except help with withdrawals.

You have to have the correct enzymes to get high off of it. I'm sorry, apparently you don't. Too bad. End of story.

Do you have a source for this? Because I know that some people don't get much of anything from tramadol, and if its an enzymatic difference I'm interested in what enzyme this is, exactly. My guess is that if you're lacking whichever CYP450 enzyme (2B6, maybe?) that converts tramadol to O-desmethyltramadol you wouldn't get much of an analgesic effect from it.

OP, you didn't mention if you feel much from other opioids you've done, or if you're on any medications, since these could impact your ability to feel trams also.

I honestly don't remember. I've been taking Tramadol for oh 5 years or so and I have been on Bl the entire time. I've come across this so many times that I just throw out the usual answer that is settled on by BL over and over again and that is that it works for some people and other people it doesn't. For some reason that seems to be hard to understand...

I don't really see why it's hard to understand, I mean if you observe enough people taking tramadol you can figure that one out pretty quick. Maybe people have a hard time accepting they are genetic mutants that lack a certain enzyme =P

I think your answer is correct though, and my tl;dr version is probably that they lack that CYP450 enzyme I mentioned.

Gahh dont you just hate thinking about that stuff? 5 years ago I remember putting the first dose of oxycodone in my body via 4 perk 5s down the hatch.

After that it all went down hill. First came the addiction...oh yeah. You guys know it. That damn shit. Then came the selling. Gotta sell to support the habit ya know? Of course you do. Then someone tried to rob me...keyword: Tried. They failed. I win. Not to mention being pulled over twice with a bundle in my pocket and 150 OC 80s in my trunk.

Yeah. I look at a 5mg vicodin today and it might as well be a skittle or MnM. The tylenol would kill me before the vicodin would even take me out of withdrawl LOL fuck my life. I thought I was bad at 5 80s a day. Some of these fucks I know are doing 12 to 15 a day. Thats 1000+mg. WHAT THE FUCK!!!!

Sorry I dont even remember what this thread was about I just started writing but hold on Im thinking. Oh right...tramadol. Shit is worthless. It would be fine if it was just a weak opiate and you could just chow down on them but you cant. If you take a certain amount it will give u a seizure. Fuck that noise.

This kind of post really belongs here.

nbd, js.

Like everyone else said it just doesn't work for some people. It still won't work if you increase the dose, I have taken 1050mg and it didn't have any more effect than 200mg, which had no effects at all.

This was before I knew about the seizure thing, but kids around here take doses like that all the time and I have never heard of one of them having a seizure from it.
