I was just wondering whether you guys might be able to clarify some things for me. This is my first time posting here so forgive any misconduct (it's purely unintentional).

The other night I took about 10 tramadol in incremental doses from 9:00 pm 'til 3:00 am (stupid I know but I wasn't entirely aware of the dangers associated with the drug at the time). The Following day I took a staggered dose of about 1 every hour and a half (7 total) from 12:00 pm 'til 9:00 pm, at around 10:00 pm I started to feel my heart race, began to feel a bit nauseous and quite anxious. I proceeded to read up on the side effects of tramadol and began to feel more and more anxious reading accounts of people who had suffered seizures at higher doses. I went and lay down for an hour and a half or so and then began to feel similar sensations at around 11: 30 pm, I then decided to lie down and try and sleep it off. I fell in and out of sleep for most of the night, i recall waking up periodically and being surprised that so little time and passed and not really recalling falling asleep in the first place.

Anyway the following day I was feeling worried so I went to see my physician who assured me that it was unlikely that i had had a seizure in my sleep because I didn't have any bite marks in or around my mouth and my ecg cardiograph didn't indicate a predisposition to further seizures as is usually the case after suffering one.

Since that night, despite the doctors reassurance, I've been feeling really anxious about the possibility that i had a seizure in my sleep without being aware of it. I don't really feel any different, (the following day I felt a bit groggy but I just put that down to the drug itself). Reading about other people's experiences with seizures and their descriptions of how they felt afterwards though I start to experience "phantom" kind of symptoms, someone might say they felt spaced for days afterwards and ill think to myself "maybe I feel spaced?" and become really anxious again, or ill forget a word i'm looking for while speaking and think it might be a result of that seizure I probably didn't have. It's ridiculous I know but I was just wondering whether you guys might be able to comment on the likelihood of that having occurred given the circumstances. Thanks in advance and sorry for the length of the post.

I think, from what a read waaay back, is that tramadol has a max dose of 450mgs before the likes of seizures do occur.
And that'll most likely include people with an opiate tolerance. I got some many moons ago, and it felt like a really odd bizare dream, with no tolerance at 400mgs. It lasted for about 12 hours. the rest my friend took, with soma (a muscle relaxant) and he exceeded the dose up to 800 I think. It's a synthetic opiate basically. The only time I took opiates properly IV'd was went burned in a fire. The two experiences were very very different.
I hope this is of some help.

Tramadol was the drug that got me started, my pain clinic started me on this years ago. I LOVED this drug for about 6 months, I could take about 4-50mg tabs and feel pretty good for half a day, and then of course tolerance built up, and I was taking other opiates, mostly perc and lortab.

towards the end of the month and my tramadol supply was getting low, I noticed I would have to take alot more JUST to feel normal, and I had 3 different seizures from it. I would take 4 then wait about 30 min, it I didnt start feeling it, I would take another 2-3, on and on, I never felt the seizures coming on either, just waking up on the floor, with no memory for about an hour.

I wouldnt touch the shit now though, with my Heroin tolerance, it wouldnt do shit anyway, plus i dont even think anyone wastes time selling it.

Id steer clear of this drug, there are MUCH better alternatives.

Unfortunately I don't think there is any way for even a doctor to say with certainty whether or not you've had a seizure. I've had several and my tongue was bit up, among other injuries. Once I think it happened in my sleep because I woke up on the floor with a bit tongue. These weren't tramadol related.

What you are describing sounds like typical side effects from tramadol (nausea, anxiety) and the second part sounds like nodding rather than a seizure. If you had a gash on your head, a bit tongue or someone observed you seizing, that would be different. You should definitely be careful with the tramadol. Seizures are scary and unpredictable.

The max daily dose of tramadol is 400mg over 24hrs but I have heard of seizures at just 250mg.
I think the danger with these seizures is usually taking more then 100mg at a time (not that chronic OD isnt to be underestimated).
If you need more then 100mg at a time then you need a stronger opiate/opioid (tramadol is actually a quasi-synthetic opioid, as its synthed from codeine).
OP, I dont think youhad a seizure but with symptoms like forgetting words etc its a sign that you have gave your brain a serious stir and I would leave the tramadol alone for a while because you are proberly a bit more prone to seizures now.

^Dont want to be nagging but tramadol is now an (natural) opiate it was found in some african root bark (wild/african peach if i remember correctly)

Thats quite interesting. Ive never heard of that but will have to do some digging for info.lol
Ill re-word my post then, tramadol is traditionally a quasi-synthetic opioid as its synthed from codeine. :-)
