Opioids Tramadol after methadone (and vice versa)

I last took methadone exactly a week ago, 25mg. I know it stays in the body a very long time, so I'm wondering would it be safe to take tramadol now? And would it be safe to take methadone two days after the tramadol? I figure it would be seeing as tramadol has nowhere near as long of a half life as done.

What exactly is the interaction between the two, anyway? I've read a lot and can't find solid facts as to whether they're dangerous together or not. (I don't have any interest in actually combining them, I'm just talking about like taking tram when you still have methadone in your body or whatever).

Anyone? Sorry I just need to know ASAP if it's safe to take the tram having taken done a week ago. I'm thinking about 150 or 200mg at most just to be on the safe side, always can do more but not less etc. Also I've only done tram once before and that was a few years back so I wanna be cautious. I do take klonopin every night as prescribed so I figure that's good in terms of warding off seizures... but I don't plan on exceeding 200mg's of the stuff anyway.

Methadone's half life is anywhere between 24-36 hours, so if you took it a week ago, it should be long out your system, and all should be well.

Tramadol has a half life of 5-7 hours, so in theory, if you take it at night you may have to wait til around mid-day before taking methadone just to be sure there's no lingering tramadol in your bloodstream.

I'd strongly advise you hear more opinions on this before dosing, though, as there may be complications that I am not aware of.

Thanks Albion. I don't see what could go wrong if the methadone's no longer in my bloodstream though I do want to be as careful as possible. All the negative side-effects I've read about Tramadol make me very wary despite doing it once before.

I would be taking the done 2 days after the tram so if the half life of the latter is only 5-7 hours I should be good then.

With regards to the tramadol, be aware that there is a very low seizure threshold there. Doses above 400mg are dangerous, and you should not really be attempting anything close to 400mg in the first place, just so you know. Since you're intending to go no higher than 200mg, you ought to be fine, but redosing obviously stacks the doses up, so just don't let your guard down with this.

Definitely, yeah. The most I could see myself doing is 250mg but even that seems too much to me.
