Training my mind for psychedelics

I have to this point had a fairly limited number of intense psychedelic experiences but i have noticed that i already seem to be on a bad path. When I get overwhelmingly high I start to have a really bad trip and after a while by body just forces itself to sleep to escape all of the madness.

My question is, how can i train myself to be okay with the changes in perception/hallucinations when i am on psychedelics?

just as some more information, one example of this was when i ended smoking some laced i look at my girlfriend and her head is about double the size that it should be, and three sections of her body (head, mid, and lower sections) are all in different "planes", kind of like in paper mario.

The subconscious isn't the easiest to train, I find the best training for your mind is acceptance and understanding- If your accustomed to controlling your mind and emotions, your on a good path.
But with that being said, controlling your mind when its physiologically altered through drug interaction is another story.
As for a specifically training, I'd just practice being positive all the time, especially when exposed to negative situations..

this is a bad thing to do .....but if you want to trip without psychedelics try not eating for a day then smoking good weed. you will trip balllllz

butttt i would suggest doing like a half a dose of whatever hallucinogen youre doing. and ease your way up

Hmm, what were the psychodelics you've used? The effests vary, so if you say the community might give you better suggestions.

Quite universal: go to the nature trip, spend time in forest, over the lake - you get the idea.
Spend time with friend around who you feel very safe, and you can tell the person what you accually feel. You may prepare for the bad trips by taking some benzo in case of emergency (I can do with alcohol).

Trip in daylight. Have good s&s. Don't take too much of psychodelic.

If sth comes to my mind I'll write it latter.

peace :)

Did you tried that? I think I will try it :)

the fullness/emptiness of your stomach affects the effects of smoking weed??

Yes... if you eat, your high will be weaker... when you didnt eated anything for 4+hours the high will be stronger. My best ganja sessions were with empty stomach.

interesting, i didn't know this. does the same apply to other smoked drugs? can someone explain the science of this?

I was thinking about starting at small dose and working my way up. this seems like it would logically be the best way to train yourself to be okay.

Working your way up from smaller dosages is a good idea, learning to handle your mind by practicing meditation is another...

Yeah it may sound like a lot, learning to meditate deeply and well but do you honestly think learning to control your psyche could be simple?

Yeah I got pretty good at it because I started doing martial arts when i was 2 and it kind of became something I did without really considering it to be meditation. Now I've discovered I can control my heart rate almost entirely at will when I'm not doing proper exercise, if I really want to.

Little bits of control like that make a big difference when it comes to trusting yourself when you're really really gone. When it all hits the fan, i can just remember that somewhere in there i know exactly who i am, and in the not too distant future I will be returning. Whether where you're returning to is really where you want to go is another story. Personally I feel like I'm about where I want to be.

i have known people who have freaked out on pot and been fine tripping on acid, and hell he even enjoyed being blasted into salvialand.....

Its really difficult to prepare for, and when you think you have prepared for it, your going to realize its nothing like you thought it was.

Its just such a difficult feeling to grasp until you have been there. In a lot of ways, words can not do the experience justice.

Just go for it, keep some xanax or other appropriate benzo around and if things are not going well eat some and chill out or sleep off the duration..... no one should have a bad first trip, insurance policies are great.

Attempt meditation and just letting go.... That is my advice.

Lay down, get comfortable, relax, clear your head of everything, and just lose yourself.

I think some kind of contemplative discipline (Zen/meditation, yoga, martial arts, etc.) is the way to go to prepare the mind for a psychedelic experience. It doesn't seem to me that there are any other consistently reliable ways of training oneself to let go and surrender to the experience.

If you're really committed I'd suggest systematic conditioning. Accumulate a stash, start with a little, work your way up to a lot. That may sound like generic advice, but I really think the best practice for a game is to play it at your own pace (perhaps a little faster).

Lower your dose, do not mix any other drug, remember its a drug trip its not real.

I'm quite liking the tai chi these days actually. Has a nice flow and it couldn't be much easier on the body. You'd be surprised how much concentration it takes to moves your arms and legs realllllllllllllllly slowly and deliberately, without looking like a shaky tard.

Yoga always chilled me out when having a bad one, i'm not into it by any means, I barely exercise and don't eat properly. But a good friend of mine (into yoga/martial arts/looking after himself) every time we trip will sit down with me and help rela both body and soul. :)

id say look into trying mescaline, its by far the easier trip to handle, at least in the natural psychs. other than that, just take smaller doses.

i dont think 'training' your mind is really possible with psychs, the only thing you can do is accept, accept all the fear, the more you try to control a trip the more out of control it gets.

though i think yoga/tai chi/meditation/breath control would all be helpful, not only with tripping but throughout your entire life.

also, yeah eating less will increase the intensity of the trip but it can also lead to low blood sugar, along with the psych, and hypoglycemia can be a very unpleasant sensation while tripping.
