A field of dreams
Over in EADD, there have been a few comments about the new skin used on BL since the server change. I made the point that traffic is noticeable less than post change. Certainly in EADD it feels a lot quieter. I just wondered if there are any month by month activity stats available for each forum? I'm a bit anal like that, and just curious that's all :)

Cheers.

That'd be NEAT to see.... yes, please do (post the stats, por favor).

I'm not sure how to get forum-specific statistics for EADD from the current vB software (may require a plugin), however I can say that our overall site visits are 10,000 visits per day higher the month AFTER the upgrade, compared to the month before.

No probs.

Bear in mind that Alexa has it's limitations. Site administrators usually have a better idea of their traffic fluctuations, either through whizzy control panel installations or maybe Google analytics.

^Indeed, the figures that I used were actual unique visitors from our Google analytics account.

I could post some fancy screenshots from analytics, but our actual number of hits and other such information is a closely guarded secret ;)

having a stable site (post-upgrade) does tend to do wonders for repeat site traffic. :)

nomy - EADD always goes through busy and quiet cycles. the extraction and posting of the stats you request (if they were even possible to extract for one forum) would take someone ages to work on, let alone analyse and explain, and then do the same for every other forum. admins have got much better and useful things to do.

your own personal level of involvement and activity can sometimes colour your perception of how active the forum actually is. if you're constantly refreshing for new posts and think things are quiet... do something else for a while. ;)

Since I assume you're referring to posts more so than just site traffic, here are some stats.

The month leading up to the upgrade
-
Code:
The Lounge 8928
Archive - The Lounge 8330
European & African Drug Discussion 8270
Psychedelic Drugs 5265
Other Drugs 4667

The month following the upgrade -
Code:
European & African Drug Discussion 6746
The Lounge 5515
Psychedelic Drugs 5330
Other Drugs 4481
Basic Drug Discussion 3310

Average month in the 6 months leading up to the upgrade-
Code:
Archive - The Lounge 10919
The Lounge 9400
European & African Drug Discussion 8518
Psychedelic Drugs 6583
Basic Drug Discussion 6547

EADD's posts are climbing though...

The previous month up until today (about 3 weeks of this overlapping the month follow the upgrade stats) -
Code:
European & African Drug Discussion 7456
The Lounge 6555
Psychedelic Drugs 5323
Other Drugs 4463
Basic Drug Discussion 3862

It seems there was somewhat of a hit in posts in some of the busiest forums but as dok pointed out, overall site traffic is up. This is ONLY the top 5 most posted in forums however and is not necessarily representative of other forums. The upgrade probably did play a role but it's hard to say how large of one and how much other factors played in.

Most interesting fact on Alexa page:
A significant number of visitors are looking for coloured light bulbs.

^ that's more interesting than the amount of people who find the site because they're trying to locating HD porn?

I believe there is a thread (archived or otherwise) in SLR which goes over favorite porn sites, I think that the search engine results are displaying the BL match as there is an exact word that's identical.

At least that is why I believe that is happening.

^ close.

As of posting, that thread has 844,384 views - to put it in perspective, that's 6x as many views as the most viewed thread in OD found here.

Sorry for the late response, but you deserve a big thanks for that. Most interesting.

^it took about 20 second to get those stats so no problem at all :)

I actually find them fascinating and check tons of stats all the time.

Hey nomy wait until he gives you his bedroom spiel on the difference between mean and median in penile length and you'll witness the source behind his fervour. ;)
